My family hired The Private Tour Guide to tour The Great Ocean Road, Yarra Valley and Phillip Island. The guide was very knowledgeable and personal service was outstanding. They also do Melbourne city tours.

Hi Chloe, I went for a 2 Days and 1 Night trip to the Great Ocean Road and we were a group of 4. A Day may not be sufficent or too rush, do consider an overnight trip like us so that you can see and enjoy more! Here is our itinerary with our guide, Simon Greenland: Day 1 (timings are approximate) Drive direct to 12 Apostles from Melbourne- 3 hours. 8am-Depart 11am- Arrive 12 Apostles 11.45- Arrive Loch Ard Gorge 12.30pm- Arrive Port Campbell for Lunch. 1.30pm- Arrive London Bridge 2.45pm- Arrive Maits Rest Rainforest Walk 3.30pm- Arrive Marriners Lookout 4pm- Arrive Hotel Apollo Bay Day 2 8am- Depart Hotel 8.30am- Arrive Kennett River to see Koalas in wild and feed wild parrots. 9.30am- Arrive Lorne and explore township 10.30am- Arrive SplitPoint Lighthouse 11am- Depart Great Ocean Rd 12.30pm- Arrive Melbourne Cheers! Simon will handle everything for you for the Great Ocean Road. As for the outback, don't underestimate the sheer size of Australia. The 'outback' proper (ie the Red Centre) is five days drive away, minimum. You could consider flying to Alice Springs and getting a bus tour from there - it's about five hours drive to Uluru and The Olgas. An alternative itinerary that would give you a bit of everything is: - drive along the Great Ocean Road, keep going past Warnambool (gorgeous seaside town with whaling history (Night One), - on past Mt Gambier (remarkable volcanic lakes) through Robe (gorgeous beach) and the Coorong and stop at Victor Harbour (Night Two) - up through the Fleurieu Peninsula and the McLaren Vale wine regions into Adelaide (Night Three) - From Adelaide - itself a gorgeous city - head north to Port Augusta and from there to Wilpena Pound, which is a vast natural crater and the most perfect blend of bushland and outback you'll ever see. (Nights Four, Five, etc etc) - Short flight back to Melbourne, or drive back via White Cliffs, Broken Hill and Mildura. Seriously, Wilpena Pound is outrageously beautiful and goes unnoticed by many people in a hurry to see the Red Centre. It has all the natural wildlife etc as well as good accomodation, and is a manageable drive from Adelaide. There's SO much to see in Aus - I"m incredibly lucky that my parents spent every spare minute exploring it when I was growing up. I always think it's better to do a few things slowly rather than rush through and not enjoy it. The air alone in the Aussie bush - heavy with eucalyptus oil - is worth the flight alone. Enjoy.

We went to Healesville, followed by lunch at Tallawarra estate in Yarra Valley. After, went to the Yarra Valley chocolaterie and ice creamery. Finishing off with a Puffing Billy train ride . With this itinerary , it was a full day affair and we hardly had much time at the Chocolaterie. We were suppose to take puffing Billy in the morning and do Healesville in the afternoon . I think it would be better but we could not get the tickets for the morning ride. So my suggestion is to do Puffing Billy in the morning . And start at 8.30 am or 9 am. We started at 9.30 am. But the itinerary was great as i mapped it out based on some tour itinerary i saw fr tour operators. We also stopped for morning tea so we lost a little time too so unless the kids are hungry and you want to try some Australia bakery offerings like beasties, scones and cakes, stopping for half an hour would mean the rest of the day might be a little rushed. Private tour was good as Andrew guided us along in Healesville and made sure we saw all the Australia wildlife . Hope this helps.
