Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A stay in the area had us come up here for a drive and what I had hoped was a nice relaxing lunch and afternoon. Had been told there was plenty of places to ‘just sit and relax’ so I brought a book and a hat. What greeted us was a gateman who charges us $7 to go into the car park!!!!! Unaware this was going to happen I hoped our stay would be worth it. Found a disabled car spot easily, thankfully! Only to be met with steps (Only finishing the ramp on our way out) to the restaurant. So busy and finding a table eventually. Lunch was over and hour wait and very very very expensive for what we got. Sitting in the small atriums - no social distancing being obverved. Only staying to eat as it cost us so much. People moving tables and chairs around and no staff to be seen. Many tables around us missing food and needing to speak to staff able at least one dish of their table not turning up. A recommendation from a friend who heard we were going to be staying in the area turned out to be sub- average and we won’t come back. View was lovely of Melbourne. But there are better ones around.

Arrived at 8pm after rushing over from Marysville. Requested for a table for 3 at the restaurant. Waitress told us that they couldn’t serve us as the kitchen is closing. Last I have checked, the webpage clearly states last order is 1 hour before the closing time. Operational hours Monday - Thursday is 9am to 10pm.
We arrived at 8pm. 1 hour before closing is 9pm. If you can’t train your staff to perform simple primary school mathematics or even keep the kitchen operational during the indicated time, maybe you should not be running a restaurant at a popular tourist spot.
Entire day ruined by sky high mount dandenong. Was planning to spend racks at the restaurant on a nice meal after a long road trip but thanks to the appalling service, I will never come back again and neither will I recommend this to my mates.

What a waste of time. Although it might be a great view on a nice day, it was $5 to park during the week, $10 on weekends. The English garden took 2 minutes to walk around, the maze was closed and costs $8 to walk through and the bistro was nothing more than a crowded café. We were there for 15 minutes and left. So many more beautiful places to see within a few kms. Won't be going back

booked a table for 2 for dinner on a sunday night. wasnt told that there was a 7 dollar charge to park . made our way to the restaurant only to be told that the restaurant was shut and all booking were in the bistro. again wasnt told this on the phone. upon making our way to the bistro we were then taken to our table in the annex of the bistro. it has gaps all along the top of the area which makes it freezing, the heaters that are on do not warm you up. horrible experience which will never see us back .

Shocking! I live in Melbourne and go to the Dande mountains a lot. This time we took friends and I was so embarrassed to take them there. Food was disgusting and cold. Very over priced! Dirty chairs and tables. The view was great, but they don’t have anything to do with it.

Happened to be in the area, having driven 2 hours from a regional city. Thought we'd have a look at the view from the top of Mt Dandenong only to find this place squatting on the summit and demanding a $6 entry fee just to get in! Incensed, we turned around and left.
We may well have spent more than $6 on coffee/cake had there been free entry, and the facilities themselves may well be very good. I don't mind having to pay for use of the facilities e.g. the maze, but charging casual tourists just to obtain a view (which was once free) is a bit rich.

We had visitors from the US so took them to Mt Dandenong, yes paid $7 for entry but nothing was open, maze, secret garden all closed. You would think person at entry could tell us there was nothing but the views. While we understand that as a national park it needs funds but when there’s nothing on offer? It took us all of 10mins to walk around and look at the views.
So disappointing

Absolutely disgraceful - the only thing Sky High is the absurd entry fee of $7. No other viewpoint with such pitiful views would have the audacity to charge an entrance fee - indeed, many others with far more amazing views do not, for instance Mount Wellington in Hobart. Avoid this disappointing heap of garbage at all costs if you've been to the top of any mountain/hill before.

My family and I drove all the way to the top of Mt Dandenong to show our children one of our favorite spots growing up. Well when we got there we were amazed that they now charge people for the privilege of seeing what for generations was free. I don't know if it the owners or the local council but either way ... SHAME SHAME SHAME...!!!

This is the sort of place you feel you have to visit while you are in the Dandenongs. Standing on the highest spot has a magnetic draw. At 633m above sea level the viewing platforms face west and if there is no haze you can just about make out Melbourne on the horizon 40km away. Sunset is the best time to visit. Entry for cars is $5. There are toilets, nicely landscaped gardens and an expensive café once inside.
If you want to see the view in the opposite direction, drive to nearby Kalorama which has a view east over Silvan Reservoir. This one is free.

Hey ive booked dinner for a saturday night, does the lower level restaurant have views as well or just the function room?
Written 8 December 2018
There are limited views from the lower dining area if you have a table by the window, but you can always enjoy the views before and after your meal!
