Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

the whole food court eateries close at 4pm or earlier. nothing was open in the food court after 5pm. The cinema had a bar, and booze was good, but no real food was available. I'm sure it's great for lunch, but don't look at the hours listed, as they are wrong !

Collins Place is situated on Collins St, near the corner of Exhibition Street. The retail offering is tempting if you have time to browse The bars and eateries are always open especially if you have time after work. By the way, the KIno, the multiplex theater, has a good selection of movies.

This complex of eateries and bars is located at the Paris End of Collins Street. Collins Place is always busy, especially at lunch time and after work. You can always get a drink, or a cup of coffee. The Kino multiplex cinema is conveniently located in the complex. Prices are moderate.

In the days when Melbourne was truly Marvelous, this was known as the Paris End of Collins Street. That was before the wreckers moved in. However, Collins Place, designed by the renowned architect I M Pei, is handsome space that has proved to be an asset to the city. Apart from the plethora of shops, eateries and bars, it also has the Kino multiplex cinema. Collins Place is conveniently located for transport.

Accidental find for us when we were wandering around the city, waiting for the play to start. There’s a medium size food court and some shopping areas here.

In days gone by, Collins Place was an stately office building that was the commercial heart of Melbourne. These days, with Covid raging, many office staff are working from home. Collins Place is still a significant city location. It is next to Sofitel, one of Melbourne's up-market luxury hotels, and it is very conveniently located for transport. The Kino Cinema is in the lower level, it usually has a attractive program of first-run movies. There are also a number of bars and coffee shops.

My wife and I stayed at The Sofitel Hotel which is located next to this place, during our recent holiday in Melbourne. We walked past this place each day and took a few photographs.

There is not much to see here. Rather bland.

We were staying at the Sofitell which is located from the 35th floor in the same building.

We tried Japanese Fast Food at OBento in the food court here where there are several other options including Mexican and Vietnamese.

There are also several retail stores located here including a chemist.

There is also a cinema and a bar attached to the cinema.

Quite handy for the workers in the area including ANZ bank as well as Sofitell hotel guests.
