Ian is an awesome guide and he shared a lot of knowledge about the Yarra Valley and the history of it. We enjoyed the wine and the food thoroughly and we couldn't have it better.

I took a full-day wine tour to the Yarra Valley. We visited four wineries: Chandon, Oakridge, Soumah and Madden's Rise.
Chandon was exactly what I expected. Really stunning, beautiful tasting room with ample seating, etc.
I expected more out of Oakridge. This is an award-winning winery, but the facilities were cramped and very noisy. There's no tasting room - our group stood around the counter of their wine/gift shop and the sommelier literally cleared off space on the small counter to make room, we stood during the entire tasting. Then, due to the number of groups, during the tasting the sommelier had to switch back and forth between our group and the group standing next to us. Adding to the noise was an impromptu employee staff meeting taking place behind the counter. The lunch and wines there were very good, however.
Soumah is a boutique winery and we were the only group there. We tasted an impressive number of wines (6-8) and the sommelier was knowledgeable and friendly. We finished with a visit to Madden's Rise. We tasted a long list of wines as well (8).
In terms of the overall experience, I'm used to tours where each winery arranges their own tour guide to meet the group and provides a short tour of the facility before tasting. We only received a tour of Chandon, and the tour was guided by our driver and guide, Paul. We didn't get this at the other 3 wineries - it was more of a tasting-only and tasting-and-lunch visit. No behind-the-scenes tours.
Paul was our driver and guide and he was professional and courteous, we could not have asked for a nicer host! The bus was spotless and not overcrowded. Paul knows a lot about winemaking in the Yarra Valley, and I would definitely recommend this company to others. It appears to cater to smaller groups, and I like that.

A very professional company. They did not cancel the tour in spite of me and my wife being the only people on the tour. Ian our guide was very helpful and accomodative. Since we were the only people with him on the tour and do not consume wine, he changed the iternary to suit us. The lunch was included in the tour package and believe me it was excellent. Ian was very informative and kept us involved throughout the trip. Highly recommend them for the Yarra Valley tour.

This is the 4th company in Melbourne I have gone on a wine tour with In the Yarra Valley and it was definitely the most disappointing! I booked this after reading reviews believing we were guaranteed a fantastic day.. How wrong were we.. Paul did not get the group involved with each other or involve himself with them. He did not follow up to see if service was adequate or we were being tended too.. We were left to fend for ourselves.. There was also instances where he mimicked us. He did not sit with us for lunch or ask were we happy with our food. He lacked personality and the fun factor.. He wanted to do the bare minimum and have us back as early as possible.. We may aswell have booked a Maxi Cab with 13 Cabs to do the tour.. I am severely dissapointed with the level of service received and quality of tour. Would not recommend this tour.. Shop around people there is much better available in Melbourne

We came on a tour today for my day off after a really stressful week of work. When booking we asked how many people would be on the tour and were told 8-12 people, however when we were pick up today we were told there would actually be 24. The last two people getting pick up were so upset about the number of people they declined to come. There is also a group of 9 girls celebrating a birthday who have been loud and speaking through EVERY tasting so far overtop of the people describing the wines. A group of that size and out for a party should NEVER have been booked with other groups of people, looking to have a nice day of trying and learning about wine; especially when it means there are so many peopls we cant even all stand at the tasting counter, and have to stand behind people to try wines. Our group was also so large that we had to eat lunch indoors, rather than outside on the patio looking at the view of the vinyard, on a sunny beautiful day. So far this wine tour is the opposite of everything I was looking for, and the worst wine tour I've ever been on. If we had known it would be so big, impersonal, and completely lacking any intamcy due to far to large of a group to possibly accommodate we would have booked with someone else. I am hugely disappointed with my experience and hope to be hearing from someone to either have a refund or redo since I DID NOT recieve what I thought I was paying for. The only redeeming thing of the day is that the food at Tokar Estate was fantastic (despite being kind of cold because they had to prepare so much for so many people in our group all at once) and that the driver was nice.

Hugely disappointing, especially after reading all the positive reviews. We had Greg as a guide and he got lost several times along the way, often resorting to dangerous driving manoeuvres to get back on track. The route was poorly planned so we ended up spending more than an hour on the bus between the first winery (Rob Dolan) and the lunch venue (Tokar). The trip was quite uncomfortable as the van had no windows and Greg wasn't able to operate the air conditioning system for the first half of the trip. Communication was poor throughout and it took us a while to get Greg to share the route and the various wineries the tour had booked - at one point he rudely walked away mid-conversation and only returned half an hour later after we had to introduce ourselves to the tasting and restaurant staff so we could get lunch and our tasting organised. Greg has no interest in wine and little knowledge of the Yarra Valley, so he wasn't able to add any insights during the journey - he was little more than a bus driver and definitely not a tour operator/guide. The wineries themselves were fine; outside seating for lunch would have been an improvement so we could enjoy the vista of the vineyards. Slight downside is the we were a bit rushed as we started late due to getting lost quite a bit and needed to make up for time. If you do book, make sure you go with an experienced guide as it adds so much to the overall enjoyment to get that extra insight about the region. It also helps to know where you're going!

This is a must visit place even though you may not be a wine enthusiast. The place is really beautiful with the vineyards and the scenic hills all around the valley.
You get to enjoy taste of variety of wine from different winery and to understand how each wine prepared accordingly. Most of the staff there are helpful to answer any questions on the wine preparations.
You get a lunch which mimic a fine dining experience with a glasses of house wine.
Moreover, the stopover the Chocolaterie really an eye opener to the hundreds of types of chocolates design and taste.
Recommended to try the ice cream outlet in that place also.
Thumbs up!

I was given vouchers for Christmas last year and finally found the time to use them. I took my daughter and daughter in law and we had an amazing day out! Great bunch of young people on the tour with us and our driver Dan went above and beyond. The wineries and their staff were all awesome, attentive and very friendly. So glad I picked this particular day to go. Thanks to Dan, Jo, Amber, Anita, David, Rachel, Kristy and Nadia for such a fun day! I would highly recommend this company.

We had the best day out. From start to finish they were a pleasure to deal with. The wineries were awesome and friendly and catered to us really well. We visited Coldstream Brewery who we found a bit disorganised in their delivery of tastings. It was rushed in the end for the cider tastings however their food was awesome.
Allan was our driver and he was an absolute champion. So friendly and relaxed and happy to be our official photographer for the day. Thank you Allan.
All in all I would have no hesitation in recommending these guys for your tour. Thank you!!

I booked this tour with Viator but my trip on 31 March was a very bad experience. We arrived St Paul's Cathedral at 9:15 am on time but we had to wait for three irresponsible customers for almost an hour before the bus could depart. There should be some guidelines regarding waiting time for late customers otherwise it will be unfair to other customers. After we visited the first winery our seats were taken by two customers but the guide did not take any action. There was a group who kept screaming and yelling during the whole trip and the guide took little action. The lady kept moving around inside the bus and it was dangerous.
After the tour I wanted to contact the customer care unit of Viator to tell them about my experience but they insisted me to provide a booking confirmation number, which I cannot provide because I lost the email. I was then transferred to someone who asked me to provide a telephone number. I provided my HK telephone number because I am a HK resident. However, they asked me to provide an Indian local number and kept telling me that no further action could be taken because they would not make an international call. This is ridiculous. How can a HK resident, having taken a tour in Melbourne, Australia, provide an Indian local tel no? The tour and the after - tour experience was horrible.
