The landmark Regent Theatre holds a key part in our city’s history since opening as a grand picture palace in 1929. Having survived a fire, a flood, 20 years in darkness and many threats of demolition, the venue reopened in August 1996, meticulously refurbished and returned to its breathtaking former glory.Today it stands more lavish and grand than ever and continues to host some of the world’s most renowned theatre productions.

Took grandchildren to see Wizard of Oz - great show. Theatre a little tired now and at $126 per seat it was difficult for some of the children to see the show. There is a height restriction for getting a booster cushion and so our...More

We went to see the wizard of oz here. Well....when in rome! Was great. Staff were really friendly and ultra helpful. The atmosphere was top notch and the seats were comfy. 5 stars for the performance, the staff AND the theatre itself.

Beautiful historic venue, well-maintained. Thoroughly enjoyed watching a show here. Good options for pre-theatre dinner close by.

Attended the theatre for the wizard of oz. Spectacular from the outside and more so inside is the theatre. Staff were excellent and friendly and the show speaks for itself just great. The only complaint the seats are worn and not greatly comfortable anymore.

On the 18th of May visited the regent theatre to see a performance of the Wizard of Oz . The theatre itself is a magnificent building and beautifully appointed. The production was throughly enjoyable an excellent show for both adults and children

Saw "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" from the balcony. Excellent sight lines, comfortable if slightly worn seats. Pre ordered an intermission drink and I recommend it to save time. The staff was very helpful and the staging was spot on. I thoroughly enjoyed the play.

This is a grand old theatre in the heart of the Melbourne CBD. Its starting to show some 'wear' and needs some work to remedy. The seats are comfortable with plenty of room between the rows. I was ten rows from centre stage and the...More

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways

throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You
never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air
