Warm welcome, cold beer Unfortunately so we're the vegetables and the Yorkshire pudding was abysmal. Great service and sharp knife. "There are books of which the backs and covers are by far the best parts." Charles Dickens

Worth a visit if you want well prepared, tasty food at reasonable prices. Excellent friendly service in English pub style setting. We will certainly go back!

Visited on a Friday evening. Pub was busy and the open plan nature and decor was reminiscent of a English working mans club. Had Nachos which were ok and we were told in advance that there was a half hour wait for food. Generally, an ok place for a quick pint whilst in town but not a place to linger.

Good bar food and friendly atmosphere. The prices are reasonable and the venue very comfortable. We had a good Saturday night out with friends. Service was friendly and the beer cold.

Found this tavern by mistake, great English style pub, warn inviting and very friendly hosts. The steaks we had were one of the best we had had for some time and the home made Bread & Butter Pudding with "real fresh cream" was beautiful, just like mum use to make. we will definitely be calling in again when next in... London Pride smelled and tasted like vinegar. Green King IPA wasnt much better. Told the staff they were very dis-interested. you need to clean the lines abit more regularly. Elephant and Wheelbarrow also have it on tap no problems with it there.

The Manager was really rude and sent someone to tell us to control our children but they were not out of control and I am very conscious of these things. This place is retrograde and '1950s' in a bad way we will not be back, this place left a really sour taste in my mouth and I really wanted to like... Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
