Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.

With the long run of the Broadway hit musical Hamilton coming to an end, the next major show will be a revival of the Disney family favorite, Mary Poppins. Her Majesty's has a long history as a stalwart of Melbourne's theatre district.Visited December 2022Written 14 December 2022

- KittyElizNorthampton, United Kingdom94 contributionsGreat Show, but better before the changesWe enjoyed the show. But were disappointed that the content had been changed, to it's detriment. This is the sixth time we have seen it in London and once in New York over several decades. I felt the scene with many people trying to sing the Phantoms composition was unnecessary. And what happened to the.powerful scene where many are climbing down and singing and where the Phantom sings above the stage. Disappointed. ALL the cast were absolutely excellent, as was the orchestra.Visited March 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 22 March 2023

The show itself was excellent but we couldn't see Mary descending from the heights, and nor could we fully observe a couple of scenes where Bert sings on top of the row of houses. However the dancing was excellent and the scene changes well executed, seamlessly. Actors and actresses were good. Her Majesty's also has comfortable seating and a good atmosphere, including the orchestra pit.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 April 2023

Unfortunately the seats are too close together leaving very minimal leg room! The person in front of me was tall and I could hardly see past them because the rows were too close and not enough slope between rows.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 May 2023

My wife is in a wheelchair so we usually get seated at the back of the theatre as we were. We were greeted by Matty who then proceeded to arrange better seats for us. He made sure we were comfortable and kept checking on my wife. He went over and above to make sure we had a wonderful time. We saw "Hamilton" when we visited Melbourne in late December 2022 ! The decor is so historic, they have a small bar & seating if your looking for a drink before the show ! The atmosphere inside the theatre was so good ! Make sure you visit the music pit before a show starts

Hi I have tickets to see Hamilition next year my seats are in Row V seats 31 and 32. Ticketek says the seats are restricted by support poles. I was just wondering how restricted the view will be from there
Regarding seating -
Is Dress circle G26/27/28 good or F35-44 better? Just wanted to get some tickets for a Christmas present but never been to this theatre before. I've read that dress circle is the best place to sit but unsure. Thanks

No performances or shows listed on their website for July 2019? Will there be any shows to possibly come then? I have overseas guests arriving then and really wanted to take them to see a show at the MAJ.

Hi there,
You're right, we have no shows scheduled for a few weeks to allow us to do some long overdue maintenance to keep us in the best possible condition. We will also be bumping in the production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ready for opening in August. There are some great productions on in Melbourne at the moment so have a look at Marriner Theatre's website as well as The Arts Centre - you may find something that interests you.
You could always bring your guests for a coffee or lunch in our café, its open during business hours weekdays. Our theatrical caricatures are a great feature.
Kind regards
Mary @ HMT

Try Row E of the Dress Circle - it is right on the aisle and has a lot of space in front of it.

Hi can any one offer advice on tickets to school of Rock at Her majesty's theatre. We can choose stalls row T extreme side seats. Dress circle Row C extreme side seats or Dress circle fairly central row G. There is not much price difference and we will have 3 kids 7, 12 and 13 with u. cheers.

so, we had fabulous seats, stalls row B, central which we got 20 minutes before the performance started so were very spoilt. I agree with Kerryn72 and think the central seats in row G of the dress circle may be better for the views, particularly for your kids - although the theatre provides booster cushions for smaller children. It’s such a great show, hope you enjoy it.
I just booked Beautiful. I was allocated stalls row v seats 24& 25.
I am concerned about the overhang. Are these good seats?

Hi Katy, have a look at Row E in the Dress Circle. These seats are on an aisle so you will have nothing in front of you at all. Hope that helps.
Hi. I am looking to buy tickets to Aladdin in the b reserve grand seating. Will the view be ok? I will also have a 9 year old with me, will he be able to see well?
