Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.

A lovely evening spent seeing Tim Minchin in October.
When the lights went out & we sat in total darkness while Tim sang 'Hallelujah', it was almost magical.
The theatre is lovely, with a beautifully designed interior & the seats were quite comfy, but as always, not enough ladies toilets!
The price of the cocktails are an absolute rip off, but who wouldn't want a 'Gin Minchin' when seeing the man himself? It WAS very nice but the $20 price tag made me wince.
Overall, a very pleasant evening in lovely surroundings.

I came here to see A Christmas Carol. The production itself was wonderful and would recommend going to see it.
But I found the seats a tad small and squeaky. Many times, I could hear people adjusting in their seats.
Wish there was more space in between rows as sometimes the cast had to shimmy past and there wasn't much space for them to do so.

Saw the musical Once there recently and it was really well done, and the old theatre was lovely too.
But just one thing... I prepaid for two cocktails ($19 each) and I don't reckon there was a drop of alcohol in either one... won't get caught doing that, next time I'll watch to see what is (and what isn't) getting poured into the plastic cup.

I appreciate the cast are talented, but the story, or how it was delivered just isn't strong enough to be turned in a show. Obviously some enjoyed it much more than us, with a few standing and clapping like they had just seen Warlow in Phantom of The Opera, but seriously it was just a show. Also charging over $300 for 2 tickets to see that show is bordering on extreme. Was good to be able to see any show during Covid, but l think this show only attracts audiences because there's nothing much else on. Was less than enthused and pretty disappointed overall. We also intentional went with no idea of the story of the show, so had no preconceived expectations. Disappointing.

The Comady Theatre is suited to drama. Although it is well decorated, it is suited to more intimate drama and intimate musical performances.. We have seen several performances and always enjoyed them. It's located on Exhibition St, near Lonsdale St, in the East End theatre district.

Beyond Brilliant every aspect of this show was fantastic right down to the dancer the Leads and the songs. Your orchestra was brilliant, staging was a minimal and suited the storyline perfectly. We went to this show blind meaning we had no idea what it was about it was a blind buy. We didn’t look up anything about it just took a risk and was BLOWN away. You MUST go see this show it’s BEYOND Brilliant! Thank you to the cast for giving us an exceptional experience.

Musical of a different kind.
None of the flashy showy costumes like Moulin Rouge. No fancy dress up of the stage pre show either. But….
Story line is good, Dancing fantastic, and multiple very talented singers/actors taking on Alana’s solo’s and serving then up with gusto!!! Nat is brilliant surrounded by the other amazing principle leads.
Do yourself a favour and experience a musical of a completely different sort.
My only thing to pick on would be the uncomfortable seats. Comedy Theatre need to put some better padding between those inner springs and the outer leather layer.

The Comedy Theatre is a reminder of times when people got dressed for a show, because there was nothing much else to do besides the pictures. The Comedy, with its intricate interior decorations and proscenium stage, has hosted many performances but probably none like "Come from Away," set in the Newfoundland town of Gander. Other Canadians regard the Newfie mode of expression as quaint but they won the hearts of the travelers they rescued. It's a good show and few in the audience leave the theatre without a tear in their eye.

The Comedy Theatre is owned by the Marriner Group, one of several theatrical properties managed by David Marrriner. It's quite striking -- Florentine on the outside, and Spanish on the inside. It dates from 1928, when the world was on the cusp on the Great Depresssion. The Comedy is a nice size for a musical theatre. The last show I saw there was "Come from Away," a touching musical about a Canadian town that saved a group of plane passengers from destitution.

Is a Front Row seat too close for Come From Away?
Written 26 December 2019
Hi, Sorry about the delay. I reckon it’ll be fine. Won’t miss a thing.

I am booking a big group of 15 and can't get anywhere decent. The choice is either in the Stalls in row O (fourth from the last rows) and at the very end to the right hand side, or Dress Circle third row from the front on the left hand side. Which ones have better views?
Written 17 June 2018
Definitely in the Dress Circle. 3 rows from the front will give you a great elevated view taking in the action of the whole stage.
Written 18 June 2018
Thoughts about front row seats. A show I want to take my daughters to has front row available but will it be too close???
Written 5 December 2016
No they pretty good not too close. Take a cushion seats are not the best..

I can't answer this question, although being an older venue it's tight in space, I suggest you call them with numbers.
