Great experience despite the 20min evacuation
Went here on a Sunday and was impressed on how they have now made it interactive and enjoyable. I loved reliving Australian sporting history and seeing pictures, artifacts, information about legends of the past. A great few hours spent strolling around.

    Worth a visit
I toured the MCG but didn’t visit the museum. Lack of time. The tour is interesting. You step onto the oval, you go to the change rooms & medical treatment area & then up to level 4 with interesting stops along the way. There are surprisingly great views of Melbourne & the sporting precinct. My only criticism is it is a bit rushed. You want to listen to your guide as he has interesting facts but then there is no time to take photos as you have to get to the next spot & be finished in 75 minutes. Allowing 90 minutes would give more time for photos. Go as early as possible as later tours usually appear to have bigger groups. Well worth a visit

Hard to get 3 tweens to like anything (🤣) but they all really enjoyed our morning here. Recommended time is 1hr which is about right, lots of really interesting things to learn and the hands on activities for the kids were great.

Australians are known for being more than a little sports mad so it's hardly a surprise that there is a national sporting museum. And Melbourne is often described as the sports capital of Australia so at the MCG you can go along to the Australian Sports Museum. It's not free nor is it particularly cheap and part of me wishes it was even larger but it is well organised and nicely laid out. There is a distinct focus on AFL and cricket but other sports get a look in too. There is a large and quite inclusive wall of fame so whatever your sport if an Australian has done well in it then their name will probably be there.

There is - unsurprisingly - a gift shop on your way out. And it should be noted that if you just by a ticket to the museum you don't get any tour of the MCG - that's an extra.

In terms of location there is no reason why a moderately healthy person can't walk to/from the CBD to out here as it's mostly flat.
