Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.

what a great place! Tucked in one of the laneways of Melbourne city, this multi-story venue has a regular run of jazz musicians and bands preforming. I saw the Esstee Big Band and they were amazing. The room was small for 16 musicians and the sound was BIG in this confined space, but it was fantastic. The bar was well-stocked an the pizza was good. A really funky place to spend a Sunday evening.

A great jazz club in Melbourne, terrific venue, different rooms with various shows. The Saturday night 9.30pm show was downstairs, cosy setup with small bar and good drinks and food menu (suitable to small venue, don't expect full dinner menu). Friendly staff, warm service. Stepping back in time to early Jazz venues.

Very cool intimate jazz club in the heart of CBD Melbourne. Seven piece jazz band with three horns, piano, base, drummer and leader, Chris Johnstone on guitar. I booked a comfortable seat on the side and had a great view of the musicians. Sound was fantastic and small pizza was delicious. Will definitely go back on my next trip to Melbourne.

Insanely cramped and claustrophobic. Cool club with flowing drinks however cramming 60 people in a room that would have been no larger than a 30sqm studio hotel room was very uncomfortable. The band itself was faultless however was unenjoyable due to the sheer squashed capacity in that basement room. One split system to cool the room was not adequate and having people graze against you everytime someone got up was very unpleasant. I am not a large person by any means and it was aweful. Not sure how the club think it is acceptable for patrons to pay $45 a ticket to be that squashed and uncomfortable. We were not alone and heard similiar comments from other patrons. My husband and I left at the halfway break it was that unbearable. If you can handle having zero space and not being able to move then the performances are great. Otherwise avoid.

This is an intimate venue where you can really focus on the music. Drinks are available at standard bar prices and a small snack menu is also served. The bend we saw was excellent (Panorama Brasil), with a low key vibe.I thought the aircon was too cold, however my partner thought it was too hot, so personal taste I guess. Reasonably priced, am planning to go again.

I didn’t know this club existed until a group I follow announced a concert there. I found it in the city among the laneways. There were a couple of flights of stairs to reach the club. It was amazing with loads of ambience and intimate setting. All the seating was at small tables on the same level as the stage with a bar at the back. The acoustics were great and the levels of music were just right. It was easy to get a drink and I really enjoyed “Coco’s Lunch’ an acapella group that is influenced by African and Indian music. It was a gift to me and I had the best night in a long time.

A very nice evening at the Paris cat. First the decor is incredible in an old brick house with a neat decoration and a very cozy atmosphere... we are already in the bath. The sound is also excellent, at the right level and very balanced. And the musicians are excellent! To enhance the evening of the small restaurant to accompany a good glass of wine. Everything was perfect. And in addition to the very appreciable commercial qualities. We had a flight problem and our initial booking, already paid and non-refundable, was failing. Liz was great and allowed us to reschedule the concert of our choice at no cost to another date! This is rare enough to highlight! A big thank you

Booked and prepaid 2 tickets. Arrived 20 minutes late due to travel delays to find our table had been given away. A young lady offered to bring one extra chair to join the couple who had our table. Place was absolutely jam packed so I don't exactly know where the one chair would be placed or what the plan was for me or my husband without a chair. Was so looking forward to our first night in Melbourne as this place. Advertised as an intimate venue...not wrong there...almost on each others laps. We left 5 minutes after arriving very disappointed.

Visiting Melbourne for business and a colleague bought us tickets for this place as a gift. Didn't know a thing about it. Went in and immediately liked the ambiance. The house wine was okay. The pizza was tasty, but not worth a special trip. The music was great. The musicians seemed to mingle well with the crowd during the break, the bartender was really friendly and attentive, the staff was great. The music wasn't too loud, so even though the place was packed out, it felt very comfortable and welcoming. They did three seatings that Saturday night, so we were hustled out after the first group, which we expected, but they weren't unfriendly about it. People really seemed to enjoy themselves.

Went to see Ruth & Maude do DIVAS of JAZZ concert - lovely. Great little atmospheric venue with nice, simple food and small but well chosen bar. Tables were well spaced - nice not be sardined in the smaller venues.

This review is not related to our venue what's so ever. You have either mistakenly got the wrong venue or this review is completely fraudulent! Your subject line refers to March 4th, however this review was posted prior to us even being open on March 4th which is today! If you were referring to March 2nd or 3rd when we were open of the evening - The owner of our venue was on the door both nights and not one incident occurred. We do not have bouncers, on both these nights we did not have a show ticketed at $25 and this review is completely untrue. Kindly remove this review immediately and re-direct it to the correct venue otherwise we will take this matter further…

Hi there,
Unfortunately our club really isn't suited for minors of this age. We do except minors 14 years and up to attend our shows, so long as they are with a parent at all times.
Warm Regards,
Liz Carnovale
