This tour exceeded my expectations. Our tour guide Anthony was so well informed and he made everyone feel welcome. The start of the day we went to Flemington, having been to the Melbourne Cup it was so good to see the race track and surrounds without all the people and to know about the history of the area. From there we... More

Fantastic tour with an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide who made the tour even more interesting. Anthony had a great sense of humour, and he knew his stuff, was enthusiastic about each sport and all places visited. General information along the way about all things Melbourne was great too. Even if you would not normally be interested in one of the... More

I booked the full day tour (Flemington, MCG, F1 track, Games Village, lunch, Rod Laver and then the National Sports Museum) for me and 2 sports crazy visitors from Brisbane. We had Anthony as our tour guide and he was AWESOME! I have lived in Melbourne for many years and learnt so much about our sporting history and venues, as... More

Fabulous day, visiting Flemmington Race Course,MCG, The National Sports Museum, Grande Prix track, Commonwealth games village and lunch at Ethiad Stadium. A small group of 10 on a small bus was definitely the best option. One of my friends on the tour was not sport inspired, but was really impressed with this tour. I would highly recommend it...so very, very interesting. Do yourself... More

What's not to love with a tour like this? I had no idea Melbourne had a retirement home for racehorses but when I stumbled across it on the internet I was thrilled. It combined some irresistible attractions- champion horses, wine tasting with pizza lunch and as if that wasn't enough, a boutique beer tasting up at Woodend. Word of warning... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
