Our guide Daniel (Junky) met us at our motel and proceeded to take us into the lane-ways of Melbourne. There was a lot of walking done and heaps of brilliantly interesting bits of information given to us on the art contained in these places. The history and ongoing changes in the lanes was told and little tips on how to... More

What a fantastic way to see the laneways of Melbourne.. Our tour guide Daniel Lynch (aka Junky) took us on a wondrous adventure walk through the very well known and little known alleyways of his beautiful city. He generously shared his knowledge of local and global street artists in a very enlightened and engaged way ... In future visits I... More

It was a very interesting walk through the lanes, opening our non expert eyes to the détails, the works you do not spot just walking around alone. @Junky gave us a good insight on what it is all about, what the point of streetart is, and how it evolves in Melbourne, the three in our group could easiy share and... From the minute we met our guide David, right through to the end of the tour, we found him engaging, friendly and extremely informative. My 16yo daughter hasn't stopped talking about the tour since! For her it was the highlight of her stay in Melbourne. Walking the city and seeing the artwork and learning about the history from someone who... More

We knew we really couldn't visit Melbourne without a local taking us around the streets. Melbourne's street artists are world renowned and we were lucky enough to have David as our guide. It was obvious he knows these streets and artists personally. The tour was informative and took us to places we would not have found ourselves. One of the... More

After the tour the kids enjoyed the workshop and created their own pieces of art in the studio. This tour was a highlight of our trip down under and... More

James was a very good tour guide. A bit shy at first, but then he warmed up to our group. He is a professional artist and street artist, and he has worked in the streets of Melbourne and Brisbane. He talked about the different art scenes, technique, materials, where it is legal and is not, how artists make money, etc.... More

Street art in Melbourne is a new experience for many people and it is well worth seeing. The Fitzroy tour over a 2.5 hour period was excellent. It covered many of the major artworks in the Fitzroy area, and the well informed guide also gave us plenty of insights into the culture and history of street art. Wear good walking... More

We went for a tour in the new year and it was a fabulous experience - I would highly recommend it. Even though I am from Melbourne, this was a wonderful new way to see my city. James was an enthusiastic, gracious and knowledgeable guide - a street artist himself. It was also a wonderful through through Melbourne and I... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
