Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After 3 years of break from traveling, we wanted to find a great tour while we were in Melbourne. I found his tour on a very popular Japanese tour guide book and decided to join his tour. Mr. John picked us up at our cruise port for 4 person private tour with the main event being a visit to 12 Apostles on the great ocean road. During the ride on the GOR, he continually informed us of places and history of the areas we are passing through. He also showed us some bush craft showing us edible plants, served Japanese barley tea and ANZAC biscuits - delicious! He knew where to pull over for great photo opportunities and stopped at a local favorite eatery ( we enjoyed locally caught fish & chips). We ended up touring about 10 hours and he made it very enjoyable - as if we were traveling with our friend! We will highly recommend Mr. John. He also offer “Penguin Tour” at night but we did not have time to take this one. We will go with him again next time we visit Melbourne! It was definitely the top of our tours we had during our 69 day cruise (Hawaii, French Polynesia, and Australia circumnavigation).

While I was watching the cricket I found Mr Johns Tours for my wife. She took 2 of the tours, Great Ocean Road and Philip Island Tours. The pick up was punctual, the vehicle was clean, air conditioned and had Wi-Fi. Mr John is also fluent in Japanese and has a very good knowledge of the areas that he takes his visitors. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the trips and did not stop talking about how kind Mr John was and how he took them to the best viewing spots, away from the larger groups.
I had also dealt with Mr John via email up to 6 months before when looking for tours for my wife and found him to be very responsive providing good feedback and going out of his way to ensure that the tours were available and giving me contact numbers to call if I required further information.
If Japanese is your first language and you are looking to visit Melbourne join one of Mr Johns tours. Well worth it.

Last week I had an opportunity to join an executive tour of the Great Ocean Road hosted by Mr. John. Punctual arrival at the hotel in a clean and new car and a nice greeting with a big smile formed a good first impression. He outlined the plan of the day and asked if he had any special requests.
I was pleased to see that Mr. John is using an environment friendly car - a spacious and comfortable yet producing very low CO2 emissions Toyota Prius 7 seater.
Mr. John has a very impressive knowledge of his city and also has broad interests, so almost any question or observation can develop into a stimulating review of current affairs or Australian/World history. So the time driving through the suburbs passed quickly. Once we got onto the Great Ocean Road, I really don't think we have missed anything there was to see - including some unknown to the broader public spots where one can almost touch a wild koala taking an all day nap on a eucalyptus tree, or take a peek at the kangaroos in their natural environment during the day (they usually hide until the evening or dawn so are not easily spotted) and of course the spectacular vistas of the dramatic coast.
The tour was very thorough and enjoyable, full of anecdotes, toilet and snack, lunch and take-a-quick-peek-at-this-beautiful-spot-no-one-else-will-show-you breaks, executed with mastery and flexibility in a safe and ethical (the vehicle!) environment. I highly recommend it to anyone who dislikes crowds and has an environmental conscience.
