Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The views were amazing as you don’t usually get to experience Melbourne from the river. The driving was super easy and we didn’t need to worry about ferrys as they moved out of the way. We took one with a canopy but if you choose one without a canopy you can go to dock lands instead of south Yarra.

A wonderful experience. To do with friends, family plus your dogs. (That's the best part). Boat is simple to operate. Beautiful and interesting scenery to look at. Taking your own lunch is easy and simple. Make it as simple or as eloborate as you want. Life Jackets provided for both humans and dogs. (This is completely optional) Staff were friendly and provided us with a good plan of where to go.
If taking your dogs bring a blanket for them to sit on.

6 of us adults hired a GoBoat one chilly but gorgeously sunny June morning. We took our own champagne and (Lune!!!) croissants and fruit. For the hour we hired it we went towards Docklands, turned around before Bolte bridge and back to GoBoat dock. It was a beautiful, quiet trip along the river (yay electric), a great way to see Melbourne. The whole experience was easy and fun. All the staff were really friendly. Would do it again going in the other direction. Highly recommended.

A birthday present from my daughter, this was a wonderful way to have a bit of fun with the family and grandkids. A beautiful sunny day and calm water last Saturday before we headed back to cold and wet Scotland the next day. Good fun for the kids too, waving to people on the riverbank.

Staff super helpful. Gave a briefing before we set sail. We took the 1 hour hire and headed towards Docklands. The river was quiet except for a few rowers out. Easy to drive and gives a good feel for Melbourne city. Nice to spot future watering holes too! Would recommend

Hired a GoBoat for 2 hours, which was the perfect length of time as a gift for a joint birthday. Easy to book and the friendly and easy going staff made for a relaxing start and a very enjoyable time had by all. Ample room for 8 and simple to steer. A lovely way to spend time on the Yarra with those you love. Thank you and would recommend.

We hired the boat out for my fiancé’s 30th for an hour and it was amazing. The crew were super relaxed even though we were 15 mins late. They explained how to drive the boat and all. We brought our speaker, some snacks and drink and had a great time sailing down the Yarra. I’d recommend this for all types of groups and all age types too.

GOBoat was an absolute brilliant experience to do with my girlfriends. We had such a laugh on the yarra. The boats are equipped with tables for easy nibbling & drinking! Quite easy to steer & loads of laughs with fellow go boaters on the yarra! Awesome way to see Melbourne! We had a great day, we will definitely be back 😁

The yarra is busy with many many boats on it. Picnic on the river bank and save your money!
There are no clear rules and it just puts all the kids on the river doing exercise at risk.

Hi there,
We do our absolute best to ensure the safety of everyone on the river but completely understand your concern. In order to ensure a safe sail you would've been provided with a comprehensive safety briefing at the beginning of your booking. This is to explain the river rules, including how to interact with others on the water, and that we are required to give way to unmotorised boats (e.g. rowers and kayakers) for their safety.
We're sorry the experience didn't meet your expectations, but really appreciate your feedback. Let us know if theres anything else we can do to help.

An hour was plenty with two kids but if just adults in your party I would say 2 hours would be better as you’d see much more. We went towards the gardens/ out of the City for 35 minutes and then came back again. You can go the other way towards the Docklands which I think would be cool too.
