Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You guys were so much fun. I wasn't sure if I was working as professional tour guide, or just on vacation with you as well. Thank you for bringing me into your group and sharing the love. It was a great few days. I almost felt a bit guilty getting paid at the end, as I was having so much fun! And I will certainly take you up on that offer to come and visit New York and see you all in 2023. This time you can be the guide!! See you all soon, much love. James VIC Rainbow Tours

Phillip island is a destination we have been trying to get to for many years. Finally we made it. Surprised to find a gay friendly operator taking tourists out to this region. Very welcome indeed. The Penguin Parade was a stand out and worth the effort to get down there. Just a warning though, the Penguin parade finishes late (based on sunset times) so we didn’t get back to our Melbourne hotel until gone midnight.

Thanks Curtz. Yes currently we are proud to be the only dedicated LGBT+ owned and operated tour company in Melbourne. Sorry for such a late return back to the hotel. Yes the tour can run late over summer. But as you mentioned, the penguins don't arrive back until after sunset, so its always worth sticking around to see them for sure. Cheers, James & Andy VIC Rainbow Tours

We weren’t sure which tour to choose at first, but after discussions with James via email (thanks for answering all those questions!) we decided to go for the 2 day. So glad we choose this one. The 1 day tour would have just been too long in the car, as there is just an incredible amount of kilometres you need to cover, in order to get from Melbourne to the end of the great ocean road (which is basically the 12 Apostles). And I fell in love with Apollo bay (our overnight stop). Thanks James, it was a special experience for us both.

Thanks Jordan, so happy to hear you thought it was a 'special experience'. I'm super glad I convinced you to choose the 2 day tour (instead of 1 day). It is definitely the best tour duration available, as there is just so much to see on the road and Apollo Bay is lovely for an overnight stop. Cheers, James & Andy VIC Rainbow Tours

My partner and I had a great day out with James on the ocean road. It was a lot of driving, but although the day was long it wasn’t too taxing. James fed and watered us, gave us lots of photo and toilet stops along the way. Some of the stops we visited were just jaw dropping. And plenty of wildlife which made my hubby happy.

Thanks James, I hope business picks up for you in 2022 once covid has disappeared.

Hi Cobi & Steve, Thanks so much for your best wishes. 2022 has already surpassed 2019 bookings so the future looks bright. I guess people are just desperate to get back out there and are maybe now deciding to finally tick off some of those bucket list locations (such as the Great Ocean Road) that they have been dreaming of visiting all these years. So glad you were both able to experience the road. Cheers, James & Andy VIC Rainbow Tours

Thanks Sam, And yes great advice - slip, slop, slap the suncream on! Australia does have some of the strongest UV rays on the planet. We do always carry suncream with us that guests can use, along with other added extras, such as complimentary bottled water, snack and fruit :) Cheers James & Andy VIC Rainbow Tours

Two friends and I took a private tour along the great ocean road with James as our guide. He was responsive pre-tour and really fun to spend the day with. A really nice chilled out experience. Nice not to have to do the driving and planning for once. Also nice not to be crammed in like sardines with other randoms (although that is how I like my clubs lol)

Enjoyed this gay friendly tour of what is billed by most people as one of Australias must visit areas. I would have to agree. The area is diverse and has so many different layers to experience- not just the view!

Slightly irritating that we had to wear covid masks (or as my partner calls them - face nappy’s) but we went along with it as didn’t want our guide to get in trouble. I had heard about some of the air watering fines the police have been giving people in Victoria for not wearing a mask. Pretty incredible.

We would love to come back and do another tour (perhaps Phillip Island) but not until the face mask restrictions have been relaxed.

Dear Superman, ....I thought you would be used to wearing a mask...you know...being a superhero and all that ;) In all seriousness though, we hate wearing masks too, but know that it ultimately keeps our community safe. We all look forward to the time where we never have to wear a mask again. And yes, the fines in Australia have been pretty big for companies not complying with the government directions. I'm happy to hear it hasn't put your off from thinking of taking a tour to Phillip Island with us In the future. Thank You Superman :) James & Andy VIC Rainbow Tours

I had 2 wonderful tours during our stay in Melbourne with vic rainbow tours. James was a pleasure to work with scheduling tours and on the tour itself. He is such a sweetie and at the end i felt like he was a long lost friend. It was sad to say goodbye.

The Great Ocean Road is just incredible and is certainly worth as much time as you can to spend down there.

We travelled Australia on a 2 week Australia and New Zealand cruise. Most of our excursions were pre-booked via our cruise company, but we were recommended vic rainbow tours by friends of our who live in Sydney - so we booked this separately. We didn’t expect to find a gay tour company, but glad we did. We felt totally comfortable, and had a lot more in common with our guide James, than some of the other guides that we had on previous tours around the 2 islands.

We loved Melbourne and are already looking at the possibility of returning in a few years. It would be next year, but to be honest we are very concerned with this covid19. Just very happy we took our cruise and managed to get around these places before it went into lockdown.

Tours coming off a cruise ship are always quite a whirlwind fast paced tour, given the need to get guests back on the boat before it sets sail again. I'm so glad you were able to see some of Victoria during your short time ashore. I still remember your cruise ship joke......How do you make a yacht look younger?..... Boat-tox! Loved it. Made me laugh!! Haha Hope to see you in a few years time for your next adventure down under. Warm regards, James & Andy VIC Rainbow Tours

I didn’t know what to expect from this tour. I booked it on a bit of a whim. A friend gave me their business card, but handy actually used their services. So I had some reservations pre-tour, especially as I was booking on behalf of 4 other friends, so it my my head on the block! But the tour itself was amazing. James our guide was laid back and friendly. But what makes this special is his guidance on the road. He really knew the road incredibly well. The road was busy, but we darted off to attractions just off the road, that most people just drove past. We benefitted from marvellous summer weather. It was the perfect day out.
