Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My child had a great time trying out VR for the first time. She really enjoyed the Job Simulator. I had a go at the car and flight simulators. Project Cars was nice, the flight sim was a little limited with just free flying in the air, no landing, taking off or shooting down other planes. Overall a fun time with very friendly and helpful staff.

Rego was quick and easy so that we could get straight into it. Wide selection of single and multiplayer games.

Definitely recommend going if you want to try out VR games and deciding if you want to buy a VR setup.

After getting our heads around the player and booth numbers (prompt online chat with a real person helped us figure out our requirements), booking a session at ViriVR was a breeze. The venue itself was well setup but the girls felt the session times were a little short, I felt it was just right, but we were playing different games.Would highly recommend as your first taste in virtual reality.

Look, the games are great. The people running the place give you some basic starting info and then bugger off back to the desk and chat. They’ll let you flounder around trying to get the car or flight sims to work until you go and interrupt their conversation. All the while your minutes are ticking down. Also the people are pretty slow in getting you started but the machines click off the instant your time is up.
The place smells like mice.

Hi Jerry, As you may have seen from our other reviews our team generally receive praise for being the friendly helpful people they are, so I am sorry that wasn't your experience. Our team are generally on the lookout to make sure everyone is happily playing, but we do advise in our briefing to let us know if you need help setting anything up, apologies if this wasn't communicated effectively. As we can't see exactly when you came in I can't speak too much for what happened during your time here, but I hope you will consider coming back in to give us another shot, feel free to send us an email at melbourne@virivr.com.au and we will help you get the best deal when booking in if you decide to come again. In regards to smelling like mice, we've not heard that before or noticed it ourselves, but we'll take it on board and see what we can do :)

They should advice you that even if you have rang and informed them your friend is running 10 min late that the time will start ticking regardless. No lenience is given even if they cant help your child with his game and he has to stand and wait for them as they are busy with other customers. They will still, stop their play dead on that booked minuite. And when you explain your grievance they say "we are sorry but we were booked out" even though every booth was empty (just one family was waiting) and I was told that if I was lucky and I asked them, they may give me extra time next time my son plays.

Hi there, we are sorry that you didn't get your full 50 minute session, we do try and accommodate people who arrive late, but as the next session was booked out we would have been unable to give the friend any extra time as that would have meant delaying the next customers booked in, which we don't feel would be fair, and I'm sure you wouldn't be happy if that happened to you. We did our best to accommodate your group, as we started your son rather than wait for his friend to arrive. We are sorry that the second player missed out on some of his time, however we did our best to get him in as quickly as possible when he showed up. I am sorry to hear your son had to wait for assistance, sometime multiple people need help, and we can only help customers in the order they ask, and we always try to be efficient in getting around to everyone. I can definitely understand how seeing all the empty booth would make it seem like we had the space to give out extra time, however we need that time between sessions to sanitize all the equipment in the shop, as it would be irresponsible of us to put our next customers into a headset that had just been used, especially during this pandemic. Again I am sorry your sons friend wasn't able to get the full experience, I know how much fun VR is (for kids especially) and I hope you decide to bring them both back so they can enjoy themselves to the fullest.

We had a party of six ( 5 teens + 1 Adult) with only three booths. Half the party only got to use the racing cars as the other kids did not want to give up their booth. You pay $ 35 per hour but only get half the value. Too bad if you want to spend your entire hour playing the games in a booth :(

Hi there, apologies to hear you were disappointed with your experience. Our standard Viri Experience is designed to allow for everyone to have the opportunity to try everything in-store at an affordable price - by having groups rotate in-between the 18 Private Booth games and 5 Extra Experiences, it means that people are free to spend their time however they wish! As a result of this, we do leave the choice of how to rotate around up to the players as explained during our brief; however if you feel that someone in your group is spending too much time on a particular station you can always ask one of our friendly Game Masters to recommend another station they may enjoy :) Additionally, as indicated on the website, you are more than welcome to upgrade your experience to have extra Private Booths - this allows for everyone to be able to play the same games at the same time, and do multiplayer with all the members of their group!

My husband & I booked this experience while holidaying in Melbourne. We had never done anything like this before but thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were so helpful making sure we knew how to operate the equipment and that we were enjoying the experience.

We enjoyed an hour at Viri, as we were passing through Melbourne on my teen son’s birthday. The shop was well laid out, the games were excellent and performed well. Booking was easy. The website was a little confusing but my questions were answered very quickly through the attached Messenger service. We can’t wait to visit again!

We took our son and some friends to Viri for his 17th birthday. It was very successful and enjoyed by all. A very friendly and positive atmosphere was created by the staff. Some of the VR offerings are even parent friendly. Nearby cafes and availability of pizza delivery capped off the event.
