Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.

I can’t recommend Adventure rooms. During the introduction, we were told that we couldn't ask for clues, but that the game master would give clues if she saw that we were stuck. We naturally assumed that we would get the clues in time to finish the room. Unfortunately, the clues didn't come in time, which combined with technical defects (jammed lock, dead battery in a device) meant that one area ended up being completely unplayable. When we asked, we were told that this was company policy. I know this differently from escape rooms and I don't enjoy it that way. My suggestion: Fix the technical faults, check the batteries when resetting the room and simply ask your customers how they want to play the room before starting the game.

We did the Gaol Break room, we were a little nervous as had only done escape rooms as part of a bigger group (was just 2 of us). Without spoiling the room i felt like it worked perfectly and the staff flashed up a hint on a screen when we got stuck.
Room had some clever puzzles, and staff were excellent. Will be back on our next trip to Melbourne to try another room.

The "Gaol Break" escape room, where you try to escape jail was really fun and really challenging. I didn't go into the other escape rooms but friends say they were really fun.

As the first time ever doing an escape room we were excited to take part. Although the actual room was fantastic and a fun experience, it was actually really let down by the staff. Unfortunately the condescending comments throughout the whole event from Mattis really took away from the fun we were trying to have.

My 11yo is obsessed with escape rooms so of course we had to do this one as our hotel was just down the road. We did The Mad Scientist and when booking I was a little skeptical if it would be suitable for my different aged children, but it was actually perfect in the end.

If you do go with kids, keep in mind you are handcuffed at the beginning and the room is dark. I recommend an adult going in the handcuffs closest to the door…

My 11yo said this was the best room set up she had ever been to. I liked how there were different things you can solve, so you weren’t waiting around for 1 person to solve something, you could all have a go at different things.

This escape room was also a little different in that you couldn’t ask for clues, but they were given to you on the screen if they thought you were really stuck.

I really appreciated the game master helping us along the right amount (I think probably more than usual given our average age) and the kids were stoked when they got out with 8 seconds to spare. We would have done another one here if we had time! Definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone.

A group of four friends tackled the Black Queen on a Saturday evening before going out for dinner - absolute blast! We had limited experience with escape rooms between us however that didn't matter. The whole thing from introduction to completion was fantastic. The puzzles are challenging but logical and completely achievable; the room/s and props are great and really add to the whole experience. There is definitely something in there that everyone can contribute to. We will definitely be back to do another experience in the future. Oh, and yes, we even made it out with just 1 minute and 25 seconds to spare!!!

This was a great experience, I had never done an escape room before and had the time of my life. We did the mad scientist room and worked our way through the clues and managed to escape with minutes to spare. Would thoroughly recommend doing this. Staff were very friendly as well.

We did the Black Queen as a group of four. The challenges were not too difficult, and the clues were both mentally stimulating and creative . We ended up escaping with 15 minutes to spare. I most definitely will be returning again next time to attempt their
most difficult escape room - Goal Break.

The staff were really friendly and informative.

Would definitely recommend this to anyone who'd like to challenge themselves with a fun time.

My wife and I did the Mad Scientist room. We are moderate experienced with escape rooms (~15 rooms under our belt) and completed the room with about 13 minutes to spare and no hints. So I think this is a good beginner to intermediate room if you want a challenge.

The puzzles were really well done with some of them requiring you conduct scientific experiments to solve the problems. This was a unique touch compared to other rooms we have done.

The puzzles lacked depth but made it for it in quantity. What I mean by this is solving 1 puzzle have you the combination to a lock opposed to solving three puzzles to get that combination. This was balanced out by the fact that most locked items had multiple padlocks.

In summary would highly recommend this room. I think beginners will find it challenging and I think experienced players will enjoy the uniqueness of the puzzles and methods you have to use to get through.

We cam with a group of 4 and did the Black Queen room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This room was quite dark which made it challenging to see the numbers on the locks but it made sense because some of the clues use light in very clever ways. Still if you are vision impaired you might find it quite challenging. Definitely bring a torch!

Unfortunately one clue also relied on hearing a music note and being able to work out what the note was which was just impossible for us as we have hearing impairment in our family so that was a struggle until we got a hint and were just able to guess the codeword.

Overall most of the clues were really well done and we managed to escape with a few minutes to spare.

The setting and theme of the room was really good but I would liked to have had a bit more story to it. Who is the Black Queen? What is actually going on in this castle? We will never know. :(

They say only 30% of people manage to escape but that seems very low. I think a lot more people escape then they are letting on to make people feel clever. :)
