Myself and my two friends booked this tour at 11pm the night before as a spontaneous trip and it was worth every penny. The bus was still able to pick us up from our hostel and the trip would have been nothing without our tour guide and driver Mike C. Mike was an absolutely amazing tour guide, DJ and photographer and really made the trip more than we could have asked for.

On a side note I would recommend to take a jacket as can get a little chilly once the sunsets and the wind kicks in. Food is also offered (fish and chips or various pizzas) for a price of $11 but cash is needed.

We loved the day and driving the journey ourselves would not have been as deserving or informative as this tour.

Thank you Mike!

Great ocean road tour
Although this is a full day trip (12hrs) it was very enjoyable and worth every penny. The coach was a 24 seater with air con and WiFi. Our driver was Leonie who was excellent, she knew everyone by name, would take your photo in front of the landmarks. Leonie was very informative with a bubbly personality. Our first stop was coffee and cake by the beach which Leonie provided. We had 16 sightseeing stops through the day,the koala bears were au some, we spotted them up in the trees. The 12 apostles were an experience to see, everything was well worth seeing. We had lunch in Apollo bay in the seafood cafe. We had Flake (shark) and chips it was lovely much better than cod. The tour is a good way to see a small part of Australia, we would do it again and book with go west. We have booked another tour already with them. We are so glad we found this tour company and booked our tours before leaving the uk. From being picked up at the hotel in the morning, sightseeing and being dropped off at night was a smooth operation.

Travelled with my wife and cousins on this tour and enjoyed it immensely.

Our tour guide, Leonie, was wonderful. She was knowledgeable, professional, patient and very funny. Her bus was clean, her instructions at each stop very clear and, somehow, she maintained her sense of humor, even in our return to Melbourne close to midnight!

We visited several sites, including Brighton Beach, the Moonlit Sanctuary with interesting native animals and an educational show. Then traveled to the Nobbies and their spectacular views and finally the highlight of the tour, the penguin parade. It was better than advertised, we were lucky with the weather and 876 penguins came ashore. We accompanied some of them as they made their way to their burrows.
The day sped by and was quite a lot of fun!

I have attended several guided tours in Australia and this one has been the worst managed at all. I was expecting more information about the places visited than a weird excessive and unwanted entertainment. All the time standing on forced unsuccessful attempts to let people smile on each situation, or "delighted" by 11 hours of loud music. For this kind of activities I suggest professional tour guides rather than missed characters looking desperately for audience. Still wondering about the reasons for a "refreshing" stop at 18:00 for warm noodles in a dirty Chinese canteen in the middle of nowhere. The driver Katherine was the only one enjoying it. Warm noodles at 18.00 in a warm summer day, yes...
Couldn't believe my ears when in the end she also encouraged everybody to give a 10$ tip, always with that weird humor.
I'd suggest everybody to do the same tour on their own for much less money and for more enjoyable experience, either have chance to find professional guides.

The 12 Apostles spot was beautiful. The others, just ordinary sea places tremendously emphasized for the money making touristic machine.

Wow... it would appear that someone didn't like Katherine much at all! It's fair to say that what different people find desirable in a guide can be quite different from one guest to another, and that this particular reviewer wasn't a fan of Katherine's enthusiastic & entertaining style of guiding & information presentation. Vincenzo might have preferred lots of in-depth, dour commentary providing excruciating detail about pretty much everything - with absolutely no musical accompaniment. And how annoying of Katherine to suggest that people might smile when posing for a photograph! We'll have to address that one right away. It poignant to note that - based on guest feedback - Katherine consistently ranks among our top and most highly-ranked guides, but it's clear that she failed to make a positive impression on Vincenzo. We have ourselves listened to Katherine's humorous end-of-tour spiel, which includes a somewhat comical reference to a $10 tip. Perhaps the reviewer's sense of humour was left behind on one of his recent voyages. Our dinner break in the town of Colac (population 22,000, but the folks there will be pleased to know they live in the middle of nowhere) is an opportunity for our guests to stretch their legs & have a bite to eat while our guides have a well-earned fatigue-management break. While many guests choose to eat at the inexpensive & convenient Noodle Canteen, there are numerous other meal options within literally less than 100 metres radius of this location. We'll be sure to look out for this guest's review of the hapless "Chinese canteen" :(( Lastly - for those of you who have bothered to read this far - we note that of this reviewer's total of 9 reviews, 6 are 1-star and only one is above 3-star. The business that was rated 5-stars must have been genuinely next-level!

As I was massively impressed by Go West full stop, this is a hat-trick review comprising the Phillip Island Day Tour (w/Leonie), the Yarra Valley Gourmet Small-Group Ecotour (w/Gary) and the Grampians Day Tour (w/Katherine and Glen). Every guide was a consummate professional, keeping to schedule and providing comprehensive and engaging commentary. To be honest, I was anticipating a bus full of backpackers. However, each trip attracted a solid mix of people and the smaller group size made for a greater experience. These were long and busy days, so kudos to all the hosts, who remained upbeat and helpful throughout. All tours, therefore, come highly recommended (alongside three more I booked with Go West's sister company, Bunyip) and I'd probably do them again whenever I can return to marvellous Melbourne.

We booked a days tour ending at Phillip Island for the penguin parade. The whole day was extremely enjoyable as stopped off at many places including Brighton Beach and an animal rescue centre. The driver/tour guide, Jonathan, was very friendly and imformative throughout the day giving us lots of local information and plenty of time to take in all the stops. The penguin parade at the end of the day was well worth the trip in itself.

Thanks very much devine2013 for your kind remarks about your Phillip Island tour with Jonathan. I’m sure Jonathan will be delighted to receive your feedback and will be justifiably proud of his role in making your visit to Melbourne a memorable one. It’s absolutely our pleasure to have you along as our guest and we hope we might see you back in Melbourne sometime in the not-too distant future.

Just finished with an amazing day with Leonie, our trip guide to Philip Island. She was so interactive, providing each and every detail about the places we visited during our tour. The penguin parade is a lifetime experience we had.
I would highly recommend to book your trip to Philip Island when in melbourne with Leonie and Go west tours.

We had a great tour yesterday with Lucy and Rob. Communication about pickup and getting going was clear, even got a heads up that the pickup would be a few minutes late. Much appreciated. Lucy the guide was great. Her commentary about the Grampians and it's long standing importance to the First Nations people was really instructive. She made it interesting and fun. She has a great sense of humor too. What she did so nicely was navigate a very challenging day. It was cold and looked like it would rain all day, but she was able to adjust the itinerary and we got to all the highpoints without getting us all soaked. All in all a very nice experience, learned a lot, saw some beautiful scenery and had a great time.

I have done 2 tours with Go West this week; Great Ocean Road on Tues 26th April 2022 and Phillip Island on Weds 27th April 2022. Both were AMAZING.
Great Ocean Road:
Our tour guides were Graeme and Tim. It was Tim's first tour as driver (I think) and even though he was new to the job, he was brilliant. As was Graeme. They were very fun, friendly and knowledgeable about the route/history of related places etc. We felt very well looked after in their hands. The tour itself was brilliant. We saw some truly incredible sights & scenery and had plenty of time at each stop to enjoy everything.
Phillip Island:
Our tour guide was Sherif, who was absolutely outstanding. His knowledge about the area, animals and history was excellent. It was clear he'd done lots of research. He was a lot of fun, very chatty and enthusiastic, lovely to be around. He also kept us all safe and informed and kept to the schedule really well. The tour, again, was amazing. Every stop off was great, highlights for me being the penguin parade (the last stop)- an experience I would recommend to anyone, it was truly magical, and also the moonlit sanctuary, where we saw lots of Aussie animals and got to feed kangaroos and wallabies.
I highly recommend Go West. Their customer service was top notch, cannot fault them at all. Pick ups and drop offs were all prompt and the buses were clean and safe. I would also say that for the experiences you get to have, the tours are very reasonably priced. Can't recommend enough to be honest, if you're even just considering a tour with these guys: DO IT.

Great Neighbours Tour. Bill was a great tour guide. We got to look at the sets at Fremantle Studio and the famous Ramsay Street. The main issue was accessibility. I had a recent operation on my foot and we phoned up several days before to ask about accessibility. We were advised that they couldn’t accommodate a wheelchair but said there wasn’t much walking and that we’d be on and off the bus. This wasn’t true.

You get to tour the lots which is great but I ended up doing a lot of walking. When we first got on the bus despite arriving early I’d trekked all the way to the bathroom at the Immigration Museum and by the time I got on the bus it was full, so I had to struggle to the back of the bus. Then a kind lady gave up her seat so I could sit at the front which meant I could elevate my foot. Again just some more info would have been great - there was a bathroom available as soon as we got to the studio.

After all the walking around the sets, my foot had swelled up and I was desperate to sit down and elevate my leg. However we had to negotiate with an unpleasant fellow passenger so that I could sit in the only position on the bus where I could elevate my foot (the one I’d been in before). Otherwise we were at the point of calling an Uber and going home.

Despite us saying we lived not far from the studio and Ramsay Street we had to trek all the way into the CBD for the tour. At the lot, a group of 3 people joined the tour in their own vehicle which we could have done and this would have been much better for accessibility and reducing discomfort. How come this was an option given to them but not us? Thankfully on the way back, Bill dropped us off at a train station so we could get back home quickly.

Please consider people with mobility issues in future. It’s really upsetting to be forced into a situation where you have to negotiate with unkind and unreasonable fellow passengers. If the company had helped more it would have been good. It was also especially frustrating given we had phoned ahead days before.

I just hope no lasting damage has been done to my foot or I could be facing reparative surgery. In current times it’s really not unreasonable to expect better in terms of disabled access and also more accurate information.

We're very happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour, victoriaplum_10, but we do wish we had better understood your mobility issue in advance of the tour. It is certainly an option for guests to meet our tour at the Fremantle studios in Forest Hill, and we're sorry that this wasn't better conveyed to you in advance of the tour as we hate for any to be inconvenienced when using our services. We'll certainly work to be better when it comes to understanding our guests' mobility issues moving forward. Thanks again for joining our tour & best wishes for your ongoing recovery from your surgery!
