Birdland in Melbourne is called Bird's Basement. After 32 years of operations, for the first time Birdland extends it’s banner outside New York to Melbourne. Melbourne is very proud to be the host of Bird’s legacy. Since it opening its doors, this venue has been the host of music legends. Here music comes first, but the quality of food and service are close second. Ticket price varies.

Amazing music, delicious food, fantastic atmosphere, efficient amd friendly staff - an excellent and world class music venue absolutely will go again

The venue looks great door person was lovely however
We went on a Wednesday night to see the harmonix experience. If you want to talk do not go!!!! We drive over an hr on our date night and of course my husband and I were talking together only loud enough so we could hear each other of course we don’t want to share of life so not real loud lol there was only 10 people there and the guitar person came to the microphone and told everyone not to talk we were there to listen to them not talk and if we wanted to talk we could leave, seriously!!
I’m still in shock what a waste of money
If you can’t talk then advertise no talking so people like us would not buy tickets. Otherwise they could wear head phones to hear themselves only if that’s what they want. We spent like $400 there with tickets food and drinks and didn’t finish watching the show ourselves as soon as he said this 4 people left from the 10,

Thank you for sharing your experience. Let us take this opportunity to clarify that Bird's Basement is a concert venue designed for patrons who come specifically to enjoy live performances. The doors open at 6 PM, offering an hour and a half for guest interaction. There is also an intermission during which patrons are welcome to talk more freely, and the venue typically remains open for another hour post-performance for further socializing.
However, during the performance itself, silence is as crucial to the musicians as a blank canvas is to a painter. It is a necessary backdrop for their art. At the start of every show, we remind our audience that conversations should be kept to a minimum. On the night you visited, it was necessary for one of the musicians to remind the audience of this policy so that everyone could enjoy the uninterrupted quality of the live music.
For those who wish to engage in conversation, Bird's Basement has a full-service restaurant upstairs, the Jazz Corner Restaurant and Bar. Here, you can chat freely as our video concerts play—without disturbing others. In the intimate setting of the Bird's Basement concert room, however, we ask that patrons come with the intention to listen. This is the best way to show respect for both the musicians and the venue.
We appreciate this chance to reaffirm the policy of our venue and hope that this clarifies our position. We aim to provide a space where all patrons can fully enjoy the artistry of live music.

The atmosphere at this venue is second to none. Enjoy fine dining while watching quality entertainment within metres of your table. Awesome cocktails. The head waiter was super helpful and friendly. I wish all my favourite performers would go here.

Absolutely SHOCKING MANAGEMENT AND DISGUSTING ATTITUDE OF THE OWNER RUBS OFF ON ITE ENTIRE VENUE. We witnessed the most awful vibes here. Sexist billionaire business man owner and his trophy wife are straight out of the communist world war 2.watch out they might turn you away if your ankles are showing.

We went to see Mahalia Barnes and she was amazing! We had an amazing table and the floor staff were amazing and very helpful. What I will say is they have a qr system for all of their ordering and its once you master it it’s fine and the staff are there to help. But what ever happened to good old fashioned service (for that here you pay 15% extra although your told the ap is a saving)
They had an extensive drinks list which was Delicious although very excessive the barman must be very talented to be able to remember all of those recipes.
The let down was the food, bland soggy and unseasoned.
We had calamari for a starter and it was raw and inedible we spoke with the manager who was lovely and dealt with it with no fuss and was so professional he offered us a fresh serve but we declined as you can’t be to careful with seafood we asked for the money back as we had mains to come and it the burger was woeful chips under cooked and the burger well McDonald’s at 2am could do better.
The curry did have flavour but the rice was stuck together.
The ordering experience was difficult the new world seems all about QR codes but I’d much prefer to order with a person.
Overall the experience was good staff friendly and accommodating but letdown by the food and ordering experience. If your charging those prices you expect more than school canteen food.

Hello and yes we remember you well. Your entree were under cooked and we offered to replace them. You preferred to cancel and go straight to your mains. You had a good time and enjoyed the rest of the evening. Here you are complaining about a 15% saving we offer when you order on QR codes. The saving is genuine. Should you have wanted to order through one of our waiters it would have cost 15% extra. There’s nothing cute about it. We are passing to you a genuine saving. About your comments regarding our cocktails, we employ some of the best mixologists in the business. Bird’s Basement goes through hundreds of cocktails per night and we use the best ingredients. Likewise our kitchen employs some of the best chefs in Melbourne. Don’t forget we serve hundreds of meals within an hour and half. Not something that ordinary restaurants can do. So we hope you appreciate the place and the logistics it requires to have one of the best music entertainment venues in the business today.

All our cocktails have a minimum of 60 mil of alcohol and a maximum of 90 mils depending on the formula. Our mixologists all have RSAs as well as the rest of the staff, We follow a strict guideline for responsible service of alcohol. Having said that, it sounds like you have a Mocktail. To be clear our mocktails look like cocktails but they do not have any alcohol. Yet they taste great. .

Came here with some friends to see Soul Sacrifice a Santana Tribute Band perform. They were FANTASTIC. Venue has a great vibe. Was packed. Ap for ordering food and drinks was excellent in a busy noisy space. only chips and olives but they were good and wine. Accessible access (I use a small scooter and can’t walk long distances) was a little difficult through hotel above back of house lift and then a service elevator but were well catered for once we got some help. Overall an Awesome Venue

Greeted at the door by staff and ticket scanned then off to our seats. Intimate venue with great views of the stage. Had the best show from James Morrison quartet with a guest trumpeter. Amazing evening.

Second time I've been to this venue, and can't wait to get back again.
Door staff super helpful and ensured our little party was together and in the best seats ! Service, food and drinks all super good. Loved seeing the Forever 80's band, they were brilliant !!!!!
