My husband and I had an amazing experience with Global Ballooning with a flight over the Yarra Valley on Jan 8th. Our wonderful pilot, Eddie, took us through the clouds to see the sun and we had a majestic flight followed by a scrumptious champagne breakfast at Balgownie Estate winery. I would highly recommend Global Ballooning and Eddie to anyone who has considered ballooning.

With a few days up our sleeve as a result of the Grand Prix being cancelled we took our first balloon flight which lived up to all our expectations!
The crew were incredibly professional yet entertaining, and made the trip and absolute delight.
The flight was both exhilarating and peaceful at the same time and the views spectacular.

At least you were still able to experience something amazing whilst visiting Melbourne.

A lovely way to spend a summer morning. Very friendly, competent staff and beautiful views. Made particularly easy by staying at Balgownie Estate the night before the flight which meant that we could get out of bed ten minutes before 5am and wander down to the meeting point in the winery restaurant. A bit of a risk if the flight is cancelled due to poor weather, but there are so many wineries to visit, it’s a gets place to stay anyway.

It's very convenient to stay on site where we meet each morning ad if the flight is cancelled due to weather, then you're right - so many things to see, do and taste. The local produce is divine! Majority of our passengers do drive though as it is a leisurely 50min drive from the city and most local suburbs too.

Everything was well organised and explained from the time we arrived at the meeting point to the time we returned for breakfast.
Both the mini-bus and the balloon basket were very well maintained, clean and comfortable.
If there was something interesting to see then the pilot seemed able to revolve the basket so that everyone was able to see it before we passed out of sight.
There were about 8 balloons in flight, providing further interest watching them ascend, descend and drift by.

Our Pilots can turn the basket 360 degrees which is great so everyone is facing the sunrise or landmarks like you mentioned.

From the amazing ground crew (Bambi & Mandy) with fantastic energy, humour & friendliness & fun. The professional safety briefings & the amazing Ronald who talked us through the whole flight which was breathtaking over the yarra valley, literally floating in the sky, the best feeling. Followed by a lovely breakfast to finish our morning.
Despite our initial flight having to be cancelled due to weather, so so glad we had the chance to experience this! Would definitely do it again..

Such an amazing experience! Our pilot Brian was humorous and very experienced. He entertained us with anecdotes and jokes and the flight was extremely smooth. The whole crew worked like clockwork and everything went smoothly. You can tell that a lot of work went into the coordination of each flight. Highly recommend! I'm glad we went with Global Ballooning.

I thought it would be great. I didn’t realise it would incredible. To peacefully fly over the city in the hands of Steve, our pilot, was amazing. When I say peaceful, the roar of the burners is frequent. The breakfast is great to finish off a great early dawn.
The photos and videos they did were amazing.
Seeing what the others did, I think we chose well with Global Ballooning.

We also think Steve is amazing and will definitely pass on your feedback. It is an incredible event and I'm so glad you got to experience this with us. There are so many incredible photo opportunities when you traverse the skies in a hot air balloon! And I love finishing off the morning with a delicious buffet breakfast as well. If you loved flying over Melbourne then I'm sure you'd love Yarra Valley or our new destination - Mansfield.

Loved it, after 2 other cancelled bookings due to weather we met at Amora at 6.10 and headed to Albert Park to ‘take off’. Fairly quick set up and off we went straight over the CBD. Took plenty of photos and went past our work place and some colleagues took photos of us cruising past. About an hour trip, floating over the city, and very soft landing at Royal Park. Amazing! Highly recommend it. It was worth waiting for the good weather, what a morning.

Had an amazing experience flying with Global Ballooning! The team was so friendly and made us feel comfortable through the entire trip.

For our Melbourne flight we drop back at our meeting location and you can make your own way back to your hotel.
For our Yarra Valley flight, if you want city transfers to Yarra Valley and back then you have to include the champagne breakfast.

Yes, you can bring your camera or phone to take photos. Small shoulder bags are accepted on the flight but large bags will be kept in our ground vehicles during the flight for safety reasons.

They are both popular - it is more a personal reason as to why you would want to fly over one more than the other. If you prefer city/suburb views, then go with the city flight OR if you want to see the countryside, then book the Yarra Valley.

We would like to ask if there's any age restriction to ride on the hot air balloon, as we are travelling with our 8 year old child.
Also, kindly advise if you will provide pick up and drop off at our hote, which is Yarra Valley Lodge. We have booked this hotel from 13/3 till 15/3.

We don't do transfers from Yarra Valley Lodge - do you have a car? It is about a 25 minute drive to Rochford Wines (our meeting place).
