We live only 35 km from this park and we were quite surprised how less this serene place is talked about that we didn't know about it.

It is family friendly place with lot of walks in the bush surrounded by granite rocks. Kids loved climbing up the big granite rocks. The best part was climbing up the Flinders peak and enjoying beautiful views from the top. It was a good workout that we all loved. My 7 yr daughter could also happily climb 450 steps which has wide landing. The round trip was 1.5 has as we stopped for photos and views.

We can't wait to go back.

Being on height it can be bit cold and windy so always good ho have proper clothes and a beanie.

If you are looking for a Bushwalk with great views of the Geelong Area and Bay, this Park offers a good walk for all ages even smaller kids. There is picnic areas and good access roads around the park. You can drive up to the Turntable carpark which then leads to Flinders Peak Walk. Lots of steps up but after only a few winding stairs you can appreciate the beauty before you. Worth the drive and walk.

Easy to get to, parking is ample but can get really hairy during the day. This place is just busy with hikers, cyclists, family picnics or just to enjoy the gorgeous views around and excellent if you want to be one with the nature.

We went here with our little boy, Jack Russel Cross. We took the east to west track. It suggested a 2 hour hike but we did it in over 3 hrs, with lots of picture taking, resting hydrating and sometimes carrying our small boy over big boulders.

This natural park is free admission but we really have to do our part too like picking after our dogs or taking the wrappers with you when you go home. There are NO bins anywhere in the track so be responsible and bring your rubbish when you go home. There are bins at the base where the parking is and toilet.

A must to bring:

Drinking water
Power/snack bar
Very comfy shoes as lots of boulders or jumping or climbing on tracks.
Maybe towel because you will really perspire....a lot!
Sun protection
Insect spray
If you are bringing your furry friend, water and poo bags are a must.

If you can, get on a Parks Victoia walk. Run by knowledgeable volunteers Julie and David, its obvious they love the park. And its infectious , you will learn so much about the Park's history, local plants - and weeds. Walks are held on Saturday mornings...book on eventbrite.

Have visited many times, a great spot for mountain biking, walking, having a picnic. We visited today and there are currently clouds of very aggressive mosquitoes - bring the repellent!! It ruined what would otherwise have been a great day. (May)

Did a free Parks Victoria guided walk today. I learnt so much that I had no idea about (and I've walked every track ). Sometimes we need to see familiar places through others eyes. Thanks David and Julie

We were driven to this park in the morning and met with a ranger who guided us for several hours. An emu was running around the picnic ground with 6 youngsters trailing along. We learned it was a male, not the mother, and this is how emus are raised. Koalas abounded high in the gum trees, and wild kangaroos inhabited the bush.

Our first trip to the You Yangs. Drove through the cute town Little River to get to the You Yangs.
The Regional Park has plenty of parking, there is one toilet at the information center, so go there. There are no toilets up at the other car park. Info center was closed, but we got the info we needed from the board.
We drove up to the car park, half way up the mountain. Luckly we got a spot.
There are two tracks, one that has MANY steps, I think 450 steps, some high. The view at the top is beautiful, even with rain. One can see the sea from the top.
The other walk is more gentler, we will take that one, next time.
Don't recommend the walk with a pram nor wheelchair. If you can walk, and need assistance take trekking poles. The walk with all the steps, can be difficult if one has knee problems. We saw many people with dogs on leads going up the track as well.
Overall will go again.

My wife and I visited this place in March 2024 to go hiking along the 5 km Branding Yard Trail.

This was our third visit during the past few years. We had done two previous hiking trails before and decided to return to do a third hiking trail.

We were here on a week day, off peak season when there were very few people around, which is the way we like it. During our hiking along the Branding Yard Trail, we were the only hikers and we did not see anyone else. We saw a few kangaroos along the trail.

We will return next year to go hiking on another trail.

Free entry to You Yangs and car-parking half way up mount. Flinders Peak (1 hour return with steep walk up). Still some energy so back round road circuit to Big Rock. Kid’s paradise. Rock clambering, short climbs (1-2 meters). Bring a picnic and enjoy a great day at You Yangs.
