Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great signage, a bit hazy today but nice to get some breeze. Did a diversion to Mount Stuart Lookout whilst doing the loop in a clockwise direction, relatively steep up but otherwise a well formed track. Plenty of parking and multiple tracks to use too.

Great bushwalking within a couple of km's of Hobart cbd. Moderate difficulty but well defined and maintained tracks. Plenty of spots to stop and admire the view back over Hobart.

Hobart is a great city for its relationship between the urban and natural environments. A two kilometre walk from the centre of Hobart, Knocklofty Reserve wraps around the shoulders of the pretty hillside suburb of West Hobart. You enter from suburban streets and from there you can choose short strolls to the frog ponds and the Glover Track, or take the longer Summit Loop (an easy one hour walk). From the riverside tracks there are views down to the city and riverside suburbs and, following the Summit Loop to the back of Knocklofty, you look up through the trees to the mass of Mt Wellington. You pass a few bike riders, runners and dog walkers, but hardly ever more than a few.
In Hobart you learn about and feel the past. From informative interpretations along the Glover Walk you can experience the colonial painter John Glover´s relationship with the site and imagine how it might have been in 1831.
You will also be charmed and impressed by the efforts of the local residents who work to preserve the flora and fauna of the reserve and promote its cultural and historical value. This is a charming, low-key and under-rated place.

Regularly run here morning and afternoon and it never gets boring. I'm always prompted to stop for the view even for a second. Lots of wildlife (including snakes!) but gorgeous trails for running and walking.

A couple of minutes walk from the City suburbs of west Hobart and Mt. Stuart, and you're into the native bushland that spreads across the slopes and peaks of Knocklofty. Facilities are limited - a fire trail threads its way to the 375m summit, and there's a network of fire trails and walking tracks linking West Hobart to Mt. Stuart. There are picnic spots on the West Hobart fringe of the reserve, and the extensive views from the top of the hill over the city, harbour and mountain are well worth the walk. Great views from Mt. Stuart Lookout. There is plenty of native flora and fauna. Lots of wallabies and butterflies, beware of snakes. Park facts: bushwalking, no toilets, dog walking off leash, scenic views, picnics. In West Hobart, enter from Kirby Court, Poets Road (turn left from Lansdowne Crescent or Forest Road)

A peaceful oasis close to the city. The birdsong is probably my favourite thing about it, then the bush. I feel very fortunate to live within walking distance.

This is a hike through fairly open bushland that has been well worn but many casual exercisers and dog walkers. Nice spot and a hike that makes you work reasonably hard but there are no overly steep sections so if you keep moving you'll be fine. The signage could be better. There were posts but the print was very small and some tracks merge into one another so it's a bit tricky to know you are going the right way. There are never really any concerns about being lost though as the hike doesn't take you too far away from the car park. I will warn you though, this place was a nightmare to find using GPS!

Although Knocklofty isn't the most scenic place to visit, if you spend enough time relaxing here there's no doubt that you'll come across friendly reptiles, marsupials (at dusk and dawn), plenty of birds and even frogs at the right time of year.
With many tracks to take around the Reserve, you can vary the length of your walk from 10 minutes to 2 hours, and even side trip up Mt Wellington.
The dry sclerophyll forest is great for recreational go-ers wanting to walk their dog, bike or just have a seat!

I love walking especially going up hills for views and for photos, but while the walk was pleasant enough the views were a little disappointing with no real lookouts at the summit itself. They are a couple of nice lookouts over the city near the carpark.
As a tourist the signposting of the walks were a little confusing but they could be worked out with a little logic.
If you don’t have a lot of time, it is worthwhile but if you have a few hours head for Mount Wellington

it's about 15min by car, but allow 1hr if walking. The route has a long uphill section up Hill St (how appropriate!) so you could use up all your energy getting there.
