Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Queens Domain covers nearly 230 hectares of land on the side of a hill facing the Derwent River, just north of the CBD, that was declared public space around 1860.

The area includes native bushland, parks, the Botanical Gardens, the Hobart Cenotaph, numerous memorials and a number of sporting facilities including an Aquatic Centre, Athletic Centre and Tennis Centre plus much more.

We only had time to walk around a fraction of what was available to see but we will return.

Within easy walking or driving distance from the Hobart CBD, the Queen's Domain is a large area including sports grounds, indoor swimming facilities, Government House, a large Botanical Garden and many walking tracks. A great way to spend a couple of hours exploring.

Only a kilometer or so from the centre of town is the start of the domain that travels some distance parallel to the Derwent. It is home to many points of interest including the pool, Government House, the athletic & tennis centre, cricket grounds, the botanical gardens, lookouts and lots of walking or running tracks to explore.

We were there for a parkrun & the tracks used were a mixture of bitumen, woodchips and gravel and weren't shares with motorists. The parkland is very pleasant especially in spring & summer.

A number of entry points for motorists from various roads in the area making access easy.

Well worth a visit & an explore - either strenuous or relaxed.

We covered a good bit of the Queens Domain during our visit to Hobart. We had a walk along The Soldiers of The Avenue which was really interesting. We then visited the Botanical Gardens (They were amazing), we then crossed the busy highway and walked along the path next to the river Derwent to Domain Regatta Grounds which has a great outdoor exercise park, we then went onto to see the magnificent Cenotaph.
Fantastic area and great for walking with lots to see.

The queens Domain is a park that is under utilised. It could be another Kings Park like in WA. Some grass mowing and some lovelly hut for BBQ's etcetera but the only thing it is used for is sport ( Swimming Pool, athletics. football ( AFL and Soccer) and a little bit of sightseeing. This could be made into a major attraction for Hobart but the council won't get off their backside, or they are blind as to what can be done for tourism in Hobart.

There are lots of trails across the Domain. I enjoyed a walk today to the summit with lovely views and also walked a bit of the soldiers avenue. It was quite muddy so be careful with your shoes!

Nothing to see here except great tracks of weedy Council land. Unless you need to use the sporting facilities steer clear.

The Queens Domain incorporates Government House (which you cannot see or enter), the Royal Tasman Botanical Gardens, the Old Hobart Zoo and Soldiers Memorial Avenue as well as Cenotaph. It is, otherwise, a conglomeration of sports fields.

The Queens Domain is home to a range of facilities plus historical, cultural and natural attractions. These include the aquatic centre, TCA ground, athletic and tennis centres, Cenotaph, Soldiers Memorial Avenue, Government House, various monuments, walking and cycle tracks and remnants of the Beaumaris Zoo, home of the last Tasmanian tiger. Lovely views of the Derwent River and beyond from the elevated parklands. Worthy of being on your list if a visitor to Hobart.

Lots to discover around this large park. The lookout on the summit had beautiful river views, to see the Powder Magazine which is now a Historical Landmark was a stroll through the bush and the Soldiers Memorial Avenue was very moving. May all those trees planted in their honour survive and thrive. People walk their dogs in the rougher sections and was joyful to see the happy pooches having an explore and gallop.
