We wandered the Arts Centre on a few days while in Hobart. Many beautiful items we liked that can not fit in our suitcases such as handcrafted furniture. They were still worth the time to admire. There were plenty of other selections if you had the budget.

There is always a wonderful display of local Tassy art. Not just paintings, but textiles and wood work, glass and ceramics.

A visit is a must for everyone visiting Hobart. The excitement this market provides is not found any where else that we have found. The variety and quality of goods is amazing. Happy shopping

You here so much about Salamanca Market but not nearly as much about what's there the other 6 days of the week. The entire square is quite enjoyable. What was a true surprise was the number of shops providing items made by local artisans or collectives. These are unique, distinctive, well made and as others have indicated a bit pricy.... More

We visited the Salamanca Market on a Saturday. It was packed with vendors, locals and visitors and was wonderful. There is a large variety of vendors with everything from bread to fruit and woodworking to wool. A "must-do" in Hobart!

Lovely area with lots of great work from local artists, on sale at reasonable prices. Also many nice cafes and bars nearby. A good place to spend an hour or so!

My walk-through was reminiscent of being in stores on Palm Springs' Rodeo Drive. A great shopping destination for the 1%. My favorite part of the Arts Centre is the stone seating in the large open patio, where I listened to a great guitar-playing dreadlocked Anglo male singer, one of a number of highly talented local entertainers (in dreads and otherwise)... a beautiful, eclectic range of art works that do the artists proud I would love to have the money to be able to purchase many of these works, but alas.
