About The Lady Nelson
Come aboard, relax and enjoy Tall Ship sailing within one of the world's most picturesque harbours. The Lady Nelson is a full size replica of the original England built Brig that the first settlers to Hobart arrived in. Short harbour sails provide a unique opportunity to experience tall ship sailing. Haul on a line, steer the ship, talk to the captain and crew or just relax and enjoy the magnificent views of Hobart. The Lady Nelson is available for private charter and offers multi-day sailing trips exploring places such as Port Arthur, Tasman Peninsular, Bruny Island and the d'Entrecasteaux Channel. The ship can also be booked as a unique waterside venue for functions, parties and historical talks.

Beautiful day was had on the water and a very welcome and skilled crew. We enjoyed the trip out and around the bridge and the sailing back to dock. The crew were very nimble and all as keen as could be to show us how this mighty old ship could handle the conditions. I highly recommend this short sailing trip to give you a taste of the old way of getting around the island.

Just do it! I've been to Tassie 7 of the past 10 years, mostly for fly fishing. Last year I went for an overnight cruise on the Lady Nelson; it was one of my best experiences in Tassie! The crew are nice, lovely even and very entertaining. All experts at their jobs and they even have a genuine Pirate or two. I could not recommend them too highly!

I called to book and was told their volunteers were not attending due to covid, so whilst advertised as running, I missed this opportunity. Make sure you call to ensure sailing

Great experience and value activity for the whole family. Not too long for the children, the baby slept right through it and the crew kept us entertained very well. Highly recommended for all ages.

We motored upriver past the Tasman Bridge and then sailed back down towards the mouth of the Derwent River. It was a great experience with volunteers who simply love sharing the sailing experience with anyone and everyone and all done in 90 minutes. One of our friends suffers the worst travel sickness I have ever seen, but she was fine on this trip as it was smooth sailing all the way and the biggest wave was the wash from the Mona Ferry. Highly recommend this experience.
