- Sally MAdelaide, Australia10 contributionsPicture perfect! We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Cascade, learning so much more about the beer making process than we expected! It was the perfect amount of time and the tasting at the end was really enjoyable - even for this wifey who doesn’t like beer! The setting is stunning and the gardens and functions area was picture perfect. Definitely worth visiting!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 October 2023
- Mary Frances 30Bath, United Kingdom204 contributionsLovely little tasting sessionWe jumped off the excellent Hop on Hop off bus just in time for a taster session and light lunch in the bar. Great set up with very friendly staff. Could not have been more helpful. All the beers we sampled were excellent and Lunch in the pub next door was lovely. We then went for a little walk in the gardens that are very pretty and well kept.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 October 2023
- Dave EllisAuckland Central, New Zealand11 contributionsAbsolutely RecommendedWe had a fantastic day. My wife did the history tour and I did the brewery tour. Laura, our guide on the brewery tour, was outstanding. A very interesting and enlightening experience. I’ll never look at a pint of beer the same again! Followed it up with a lovely lunch in the restaurant. Thoroughly recommend the whole experience.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 October 2023

Back at the brewery the staff were all lovely, the beer paddle was yummo, food was amazing and the view!!! Well it was just beautiful. Sure to say we loved our experience. - Jennifer G4 contributionsa great experienceLoved this, staff were very informative and knowledgeable, you have to be mobile as there are a lot of stairs to navigate right from the start. The beer tasting paddle was great and if beer is not your thing there is cider or soft drink. the history of the original owners and the building was very surprising.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 October 2023

We’ve done a few tours of other beverage companies and this was ok. Our guide was lovely but due to their accent, extremely hard to understand. Inside the brewery, nothing was happening and we spent a long time looking at the flavours that make the beer. At the end of the tour, if you do a trip advisor review and show the staff you can spin for prizes, which is why I think the rating of this is higher than I would’ve expected.

We arrived by hop-on hop-off bus. Because we did not have a reservation, we had to wait 2.5 hours for the first available tour. The tour guide was most informative. The tour takes about 90 minutes and includes ascending and descending 40 stairs. At the conclusion of the tour, you can sample four of the the selections of ciders, lagers and ales. We enjoyed the Cascade Lager and the Mercury Hard Raspberry Cider. Please note that no photos are allowed inside the brewery.

It started out interesting, but soon turned into an experience reminiscent of a school excursion you’re forced to endure. The tour itself becomes confusing because the guide starts talking about processes involving products you’ve already smelt/seen in another part of the tour, making it hard to follow. The production part doesn’t run for many hours and so we paid $35 to not even see the brewing/packaging process. The tasting paddle might be worth the money for some, but honestly my family tried the beer plus the cider, and didn’t have more than 2 sips, not our cup of tea. I would not recommend this tour, especially if you’re expecting some information or mention in regards to the other side (female factory), there’s absolutely none.
Oh and the restaurant part smelt like a fish market full of old seafood, might have been a one off, but I just about threw up. So in conclusion, save your money & time!

Great value and highly informative. Our young male guide ( forgot his name) was terrific...very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. The only negative experience was our interactions with one particular female wait staff- not at all friendly or welcoming. We arrived early for our tour and weren’t sure where to assemble; she was rude and unhelpful. We understand she was still setting up for the day but a more welcoming demeanour like her colleagues would set her in good stead. Thanks again to our guide and highly recommend the cider tasting paddle!

Highly recommend spending time here. It is so picturesque and quite an awesome structure! My husband was expecting “just another brewery”, but was absolutely WOW’ed by this one!! We took the one hour tour, which was very informative and well prepared. Out tour guide, ‘Bro’, gets a 5-star review. He was very knowledgeable and pleasant. Flight of beers included with tour was a generous size and we enjoyed a schooner at the lovely Beer Garden. Landscaping there is incredible. This is a fantastic capsids trip from the town of Hobart. We walked form Hobart Waterfront to the brewery, mostly along the Riverlet Trail, but it is quite a hike in terms of length and elevation. Took an economical cab ride back to town. City bus is also an option for those without a rental car, but was told by staff that the bus schedule is somewhat erratic.

A really interesting and enjoyable time. Worth every dollar and the icing on the cake, a tasting session of 4 beers brewed here. We sat outside in a beautiful garden sampling the beers with plates of olives and cartoucherie, with the sun shining, it was a really enjoyable experience. Thank you 🙂

A beautiful part of Hobart and a really interesting history tour, as well as a fantastic experience for those enjoy beer. The tour takes you into the old brewery which is still the working brewery today. Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic as he had a huge appreciation of the significance and importance of the brewery to the city for over 100 years. Recommend it.

Our tour was run by a Scottish lass who was friendly and very knowledgeable. She took us around and into the guts of the brewery and told us both history stories and also current brewing stories, it was fantastic! Definitely worth checking out the bar after too as they will have drinks on tap that aren't sold anywhere else

Great tour, great beer and a beautiful historic building to photograph.
We had plenty of time to wander through the gardens and even have lunch at the restaurant if we wanted. Plenty of photo
opportunities of the brewery buildings and its grounds however, you are not permitted to take photos inside the brewery.
Tip: be aware that at the time we attended, to participate in the tour of the brewery, we could not have consumed any alcohol prior to the tour
You do get to sample the beers afterwards 🍻

Poor customer service. Despite spending a huge amount of money on a private event, our group was treated like crap by rude staff. Shame given how nice the venue was.

What is the difference between the brewery tour on the weekend and the historical tour during the week? Is one better than the other?
Written 23 November 2020
The history tour won't enter the brewery but invites you to explore the surroundings and learn more about our rich heritage.
Written 12 February 2021
Is it worth doing both the brewery tour and the beer school? Or just one or the other?
Written 23 August 2018
If you have the time do both, if not just the brewery tour and stay for a meal, good prices excellent value.

If we join the brewery tour, will we be allowed to use the 4 drink tokens while we have lunch there? Or do we have to drink them all in the tasting room? Thanks
Written 6 April 2016
It would be no problem to use the tokens with lunch as it is basically all the same area. It is a very nice space looking out onto the stunning gardens so I am sure you will enjoy it!
