It is so good this building has survived as it provides a great insight into our penal history. Our tour guide was excellent, very knowledgable and entertaining. The stories behind the parts of the building were enthralling and brought the stones to life. A well...More

Our nearly 2 hr guided tour with Angela was a marvelous experience. Her knowledge of the facility, the convicts life and conditions were amazing, delivered with both humor and sadness, where appropriate. Reading through the list of prisoners, the petty crimes and resulting transportation to...More

The 90 minute tour of the Tench was very worthwhile to learn about convict history in Hobart. Our guide, Patrick, was excellent, explaining what we were seeing on the tour, and including stories from various times in the history of the place. Highly recommended.

I'm so sorry I'm not sure. There are a few prisons I understand in different locations. I have to think the cruise line would offer at least one of the prison tours. Probably best be sure and ask them directly.
Is the Tench within walking distance of the Cruise Ships? What is the street address please?
