Great insight at where some of the 'good' convicts were held (as opposed to Port Arthur). Very interesting tour through the remnants including the tunnels under the church pews, the solitary confinement cell and the bird cage walk to the courtroom.

Our tour of ‘The Tench’ was spectacular! Our guide, Jeff, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about sharing as much detail as possible about the old gaol. It’s a fascinating place with amazing stories of convict history brought to life. If you have an interest in...More

I would recommend this tour to everyone visiting Hobart. Just seeing how the convicts were housed until being sent to their work location was amazing. The solidarity confinement space was so small it gave me goosebumps. Yes there is gallows and their history, so just...More

Well worth the effort. Our guide Julianne was helpful engaging and insightful that kept our interest throughout the 90 minute tour. For a couple of people like us who don’t do allot of historically significant activities, we thoroughly enjoyed this. Recommend!

Certainly well worth the visit, the conditions certainly would crush even the strongest of men but as they say 'do the crime do the time', irraspective of era.

Hi there, Unfortunately our Ghost Tours are available for those aged 15+, as the stories told are quite ghoulish. We do have our regular Day Tours, which would be suitable for your children. For more information you can... More
