our tour guide (Jess) was fantastic; took care of us really well; picked us each up at various places around Hobart; made sure at various places we stopped that we knew what was going on; drove safely and carefully on winding, hilly roads all across Tasmania.

Julian took us on a five day tour that included Cradle Mountain and Frecyent National Parks, small towns, great views, wine tasting, cheese tasting and off the beaten track attractions. We would’ve never have had such experiences if we traveled on our own or gone with a big bus tour company. Julian is a native Tasmanian and knows so much about Taz’s history and geography. He was always willing to stop for pictures or go to stores that were of interest to us. We are so happy that this tour fit into our holiday timelines as we loved Tasmania and would highly recommend a visit to Taz with Great Expeditions!

Highly recommend private tour with Great Expeditions. We did the Port Arthur trip with lots of stops on the way to explore Tasmania’s incredible scenery. Port Arthur was incredible to explore and Julian guided us to the most interesting parts. The stop on the way back for wine tasting and oysters was wonderful. This trip is a must do for anyone in Hobart for a short trip.

We did the convict port Arthur tour, the scenery was just spectacular and our guide Julian was extremely knowledgeable and so friendly. We tasted some awesome local wines and were absolutely spellbound by the incredible beauty of the Tasman Peninsula.

I had an amazing time exploring Tasmania with Great Expeditions! Our guide, Julian, was amazing and he gave us a very detailed and highly informative tour. Tasmania is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. If you’re ever down under, definitely add this destination to your list!

I was with a group of 8 people on a cruise. We arranged a private tour. Geraldina our guide was great! , We went to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, where you will see the Tasmanian Devil, baby Wombats, Koalas & Kangaroos - Geraldina knew so much about the wildlife in Tasmania so was a great guide here . You walk right among the animals at the sanctuary and can feed them. The to Mt Wellington pinnacle - great views of Hobart and southern Tasmania. We went to Richmond historic village. Not too much time there, (but only so much time when you just a have a day stop from a cruise). We had a nice picnic lunch that was included. We ended the day by joining a small a tour at Cascades Female Factory - very sad place, but is part of history and we were glad we went to learn about how many women that were shipped to Tazmania for petty crimes in England lived Geraldina picked us up at the ship and got us back to the ship in plenty of time.

Unfortunately we only had a day to explore Hobart and the surrounding area, but fortunately we chose to spend that limited time with Patrick! Patrick was very patient and helpful during the upfront booking process while I was still working out logistics for our visit. He made great recommendations based on conversations that turned out to fit perfectly with what we were looking to do. Patrick is also amazingly knowledgeable across a broad range of Tasmanian subject matter which enhanced our experience. I would definitely recommend him for tours in Tasmania.

We had a private tour with Patrick. We were picked up right outside the ship port. It was fantastic from the beginning to the end of the tour. Patrick is a great guide, very informative and accommodating. We hiked Mount Field, Russell Falls, and Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. We saw a platypus, fed kangaroos, photos with a koala, wombats and Tasmanian devils. Our group totally enjoyed our time with Patrick.

We are a group of 5 couples taking the Carnival Legend to Tasmania. The itinerary described that we will arrive Hobart on 1 Feb at around 8 am and depart at 5 pm.
It's our first time to Tasmania. Would you suggest a tour for us and the price.

We were to do the top four trip. My father had done this trip previously and said it was great. Also another person I know had also recommended it to me as well.
Sadly on my trip, due to rough weather we did not arrive till after 1.00 so we only went to two places, but we thoroughly enjoyed it.

My wife and I will arrive Thursday, May 12th at Hobart aboard Oceania cruise ship Insignia. We are in port form 9AM to 7PM
Asa wine professional (I'm a credentialed wine educator, occasional writer and judge, consult on imports and distribution-although now mostly retired, I still conducted programs). My focus of interest is primarily Pinot Noir and I have noted a tour conducted by Patrick to Coal Valley with a grower from Oregon.I'd like something similar but also enjoy a nice winery luncheon in the area (Richmond?).
Please send contact information (e-mail,etc.with suggestions, options, etc Thanks, RWB

We did not take the wine tour, but took the top five tour. I suggest you contact Patrick directly by e-mail and he can tell you exactly what his tour will entail. Tasmania had some pretty bad fires after we left, and i am not sure what areas may be closed due to dangerous conditions, so again, e-mail Patrick on this. he is quite responsive and helpful

Hi drBabbs,
We only took a day tour and they did a great job. If you take the 5day tour check with Great Expeditions to answer the questions. They will be very helpful.

Hi Carrie,
I agree with both of the responses you have already received.
It is best to contact Patrick and discuss it with him.
Just respond to the web site
His phone numbers are
Patrick (Hobart Office) - 0448 501 181 (International: + 61 448 501 181)
Patrick was wonderful in helping us with our tour.
Most important is for you to research his web site and trip advisor for the types of places you want to see.
Close to Hobart we recommend Bonorong wildlife rescue very highly. There were all sorts of animals where you get up close and can even touch them. There were 96 kangaroos lying around the open park. Your 10 year old will love it - hey, you all will love it.
We also really appreciated the views from Mount Wellington. Spectacular countryside
The web site shows you a lot to choose from.
But we highly recommend Patrick for his knowledge and commitment to serving his customer.
