I absolutely loved this trip and it will always remain a highlight in my memories. Ben, the manager, has put together an excellent format which includes top notch lightweight gear provided for you, fantastic guides, great food and lots of fun. The guides we had were Michael and Charlotte and I could not fault either of them. They were tireless in working on our behalf to keep us informed, fed, entertained, safe and well supported in all ways. They were also infinitely patient and kind and approachable, while still being human. Another thing was the fun we had each evening. Michael & Charlotte had some good games up their sleeves to keep us entertained. This helped the group to bond and soon we introduced our own entertainments so every evening after dinner there was something to look forward to. Morale was high. They were also good conversationalists. They showed us numerous swimming spots and though they water was cold, just about everybody had a dip every day. Considering the weight of food to be carried (by the guides) they did an outstanding job of feeding us tasty healthy and filling meals, including desserts! I would also mention their local knowledge of the land, the indigenous inhabitants, the wildlife, the recent history, the bush tucker. We had an emergency on the last day when one of our party hurt his knee and was unable to continue. Michael & Charlotte dealt efficiently with the emergency while keeping the show rolling for the rest of us. I could not have asked for better or nicer guides. Ben…you are a lucky man to have these people working for you. Ben himself was like a superman organising the logistics in the background (I think with some helpers?) All in all I would thoroughly recommend this trip for its outstanding natural beauty, and Wilderness Expeditions Tasmania for its organisation and care of us.

We completed the Overland Track with Ben and Michael last week and loved the experience. Ben’s organisation and experience, lightweight gear just right for the conditions, excellent cooking skills, and deep knowledge of this amazing wilderness environment enabled us to enjoy and learn as we walked. He and Mike had great stories to tell and kept our enthusiastic party well fed and entertained along the way. The walk is spectacular, with constantly changing environments, and while the uneven terrain can be quite tough at times we were encouraged and supported all the way. We were impressed with their efforts to make the hiking as sustainable as possible and cause minimum damage to the pristine world we walked through. The guides were also attentive to the needs of different walkers in the group, and always open to a chat and a laugh. We mostly experienced lovely weather and had plenty of fresh swims and cosy nights in our tents. We would highly recommend Wilderness Expeditions who provided an experienced, well prepared, and very enjoyable trek through a unique and beautiful area.

The perfect way to experience the Overland Track! I have returned from a perfect 6 day hike with Wilderness Expeditions. They made the trip absolutely perfect. Their organisation before and during the hike, their vast knowledge and expertise, their humour and entertainment along the way made it so enjoyable. We carried our own clothes, sleeping bag and mattress, as well as half of a twin tent, however, the pack was surprisingly lighter than I expected. The excellent quality of the pack and tent meant they were perfect for the conditions, while still being super lightweight. My pack was only about 10-12kgs, including tent!

The guides carried the food for everyone, and managed to whip up spectacular dishes. Every meal we were pleasantly surprised with the quality and taste of the food, all made as one pot wonders, from things carried by the guides. I love food! Luckily it WAS NOT freeze dried food that tasted like cardboard, it was flavoursome meals that were very filling, often offering seconds if needed. But the meals were so filling, seconds weren’t often required. The guides were great, we knew we were in safe hands as their knowledge and expertise shone through the whole 6 days. Even though we slept in tents, we felt like we were pampered having all meals cooked and we were not allowed to help with cleaning up etc. Once at camp, the tent took 5 minutes to erect, then it was relaxing and enjoying the serenity while our hot delicious meals were being prepared. Staying in the tents made the experience feel more authentic, compared to spending twice as much to sleep in private cabins, we definitely felt like we experienced the true Overland Track.

Thank you to the fabulous Wilderness Expedition Guides, their dedication and commitment made this an experience I will never forget. We were a bunch of 6 women taking a chance to do something special for our 40th birthdays, and the guides handled everything so well that we now feel like experienced hikers.

If you are unsure of how you’d like to experience the Overland Track, take a risk and book it through Wilderness Expeditions and do the tent experience to add to the feeling of adventure and accomplishment. Not only will you save a huge amount of money, you will absolutely love it!

Brilliant. What an amazing trip we had. From the incredible guides, Mike & Charlotte, to the VERY high-quality / comfortable gear provided, the food, the scenery, the laughs... golly... This is what experiencing the outdoors is all about!

If you're looking to experience one of the many beautiful hikes in Tassie but want extra support, this is pretty damn ideal!

The guides ensure you feel safe, are well-fed / full of tea constantly, and THOROUGHLY informed about the seemingly endless natural wonders along the path. There's a lovely balance of doing 'the hike thing' (carrying a pack, putting up tents, eating lots of scroggin, smelling a lil sweaty) and getting to chill (no need to have headaches in the lead up about travel logistics, meal prepping, investing in expensive hiking gear, booking National Park passes, buy / carrying first aid equip or emergency comms, and/or *and this is the big one* cooking meals after long days). Less thinking, more enjoying.

I love the outdoors, I hike alone often, and try to research aspects of the environments I visit. However, I've never paid as much attention nor learned about the flora & fauna immediately around me in the way I did on this trip with Wilderness Ex. Sure, a guide book is a nice idea but you're kidding yourself if you think you'll be whipping it out to ID every 2nd plant you see. Paying for friendly humans (who are also trained in remote first aid!) to introduce you to a place they're intimately aware of / connected to...?! Do it. Even if you're "experienced", this is a whole other experience.

A huge credit to Ben & Co for what they've created with this amazing small business. There's loads of big providers out there but I doubt it'd feel as homely and personal as what our crew was treated to during the fabulous 6 days we spent on the Overland. I can only hope to make it back down to Tas to do another family trip like this soon :)

What a memorable experience with Wilderness Expeditions on the Overland Track! I can't stop raving about this trip to everyone as Ben and Sean made my first multiday hike such an incredible experience. All the provided gears, as per their website, were of high quality, ultralight weight and withstood all the challenging weather conditions. Food was plenty with biscuits during walking breaks and desserts every evening. This trip is suitable for newbies and experienced hikers, solo travelers (like myself), family or a group of friends. You'll be with like-minded people.
Bury any doubts you may have about the Overland Track. Stop your research - go with Wilderness Expeditions. You won't regret it!

My son and I recently walked the Overland Track with Ben and Michael. It was a fabulous six days. What made it really special was the knowledge Ben and Michael shared about the track and the flora and fauna as we passed through some of the most spectacular forests and moors. They supplied fabulous gear which - true to their word - weighed not too much! It was great food and company and I'd recommend them to anyone wanting a guided experience.

Imagine scrambling over rocks, navigating tree roots, walking through mud and rock hopping over rivers, while walking up and down mountains all while carrying a 10kg backpack. Sleeping in tents, eating on the ground, drop toilets and for a total of 6 days. With one change of clothes!! If you can imagine that you haven’t even got the half of it. So mentally and physically draining. But what made it worth it was the amazing scenery and the guides. I couldn’t have imagined surviving this without the support of Ben and Mike. They were there for me to encourage, support and manage my blisters. Walking into camp knowing they would be there with a hot drink, amazing food and desserts and a smile on their faces, made the trip incredibly worth while. Their knowledge on everything from plants and rock formations to high lining and adventuring made for awesome conversation and distraction. I cannot thank you enough for getting me through one of the biggest challenges of my life. You are amazing! Blessings for your futures I will never forget this experience together. Narelle

We just finished an AMAZING six days on the Overland track and we all reckon this company was as close to perfect as you could get! Em and Michael were brilliant- they set a relaxed easy vibe, but they also inspired and encouraged our whole group to get to the top of both Cradle and Ossa. I never thought (at my age!) I would be able to do the peaks but they gave me the confidence to get there and the views were totally worth the pain!
It's a bit decadent having guides who not only carry all the food, but also cook it and serve you (yeah, really!). It allowed me to relax and enjoy the wilderness, as I knew everything was taken care of by Michael and Em.
They knew the trails and the swimming holes and the wildlife and the plants so well, all we had to do was drink it all in! a HUGE thanks Michael and Em and Ben-- keep catching those pancakes!

What a fantastic trek. The whole team at Wilderness Expeditions were exceptional. We had Nick and Michael as our guides and Em taking us out on the last day. The gear they supply is top quality and light weight. The boys cooking skills are top notch, beautiful meals and plenty of it. We had all the weather except snow. Managed to summit Cradle Mountain on a magic day, not a breath of wind and views for miles.
The boys were very knowledgeable on all the flora and fauna and had a real botany lesson all the way, even had a couple of tassie devils scrapping near us late at night at Windemere.
Would happily book future treks with Ben and the team, no need to look elsewhere if you are considering the guided trips on offer.

Start to finish, very professional! Bookings, transportation, personable (and knowledgable) guides, all top notch. We had varying degrees of personal fitness and Chloe and Jazz did a great job of managing us all! And a surprise visit by head honcho Paul made our last night special (probably because of his blueberry pancakes)! If you want a guided walk on the Overland, I would highly recommend Wilderness Expeditions...I hope to do another walk with them the next chance I get!
