Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Peter Rowe (the Mail Man) provided the most incredible and unique outback experience by allowing me to "tag along" as he delivered mail to Outback cattle stations, including Anna Creek Station (the biggest cattle station in the world). Peter's attention to detail and ability to spin a yarn and entertain for nearly 13 hours (and 600km) was mind blowing. I wish I could "tag along" on his mail runs more often....I have so much to learn

If you want to learn insights on life in the Outback, plus history of the Old Ghan Train tracks, this is a must do tour. Very long day ( pick up around 9am, end between 9 and 10pm ), but worth every minute. Peter, a veteran resident of Coober Pedy has so many interesting stories and comments that he makes time fly by.
Very comfortable ( large Toyota SUV ), and pit stops at 2 Roadhouses for lunch and dinner.
Not cheap, but worth every cent.

It was a full on long day but certainly worth the money considering you get to see things that a lot of us could nit see without the know how and correct vehicle. I love the outback, and Peter the tour operator is a man of Knowledge and insight as he has been in Coober Pedy many years. Having lunch and tea at Iconic outback places was fantastic. Would highly recommend, book way ahead as he is very busy and only takes 4 passenh=gers twice a week. My wife like cememtries and Peter h=gave some insight into some on the trip which was a bonus.

Peter is the most amazing guide. His depth and breadth of knowledge and ability to tell an interesting and engaging story knows no bounds. The places we visited and landscapes we travelled through make this a once in a lifetime experience. Well worth every effort to book this tour well in advance.

The mail run with Peter Rowe was awesome! It was a long, and very interesting day. 13 hours of travelling and stopping. Met several of the Williams family, bought a hat, and saw Tony's fossils. The trip was filled with interesting anecdotes and local knowledge. Finally had an awesome diner at William Creek Bar! What a day. Highlight of the trip to CB.

This was an extraordinary day! Whilst we travelled on public access roads we also went into stations not available to the public. Just to see the size of these stations and their setups was fantastic.
Then we have Peter Rowe the mailman. What an extraordinary tour guide. His memory for history, dates, flora, fauna and a good story is unbelievable.
He entertained us the whole way.
I cannot recommend this tour highly enough.

We have just returned from a road trip - travelling from Adelaide to Uluru. Along the way, we spent 2 nights at Coober Pedy. I have always wanted to do a 'Mail Run', and signed up hubby and kids aged 10 & 13yo for this one. Peter Rowe is the guide/driver/postie. He is an encyclopaedia on EVERYTHING outback! Our tour left Coober Pedy at 9.00am, and didn't return back until 10.30pm. I know you're probably thinking 'wow, 13 hours, that's a LOOONG day'....well it went so quick! Peter kept everyone amused for the entire time. His knowledge on history, geography, geology and trivia is amazing. We all loved this day - great fun and great value. We travelled from Coober Pedy to Oodnadatta for lunch, along the way stopping to deliver the mail. After lunch, we continued along the track to William Creek for dinner, again stopping at various outback stations to deliver the mail. All this time, Peter chatted and commentated on points of interest, history and anything else related to the outback. He welcomed questions and was happy to stop for photo opportunities. Without a doubt, one of the BEST organised tours I have ever done. My children also loved it - they didn't whinge a bit and have since come home talking about the tour. Great day, great fun..highly recommended for families wanting to learn about our great outback without the hassle of driving.

What a fun day out. It's a long day on the road, from Coober Pedy to Oodnadatta to William Creek and back to Coober Pedy, but the scenery is varied and interesting, with the dog fence, the old Ghan railway line and four cattle stations along the way, Peter is a knowledgeable and informative guide and driver, and the time passes very quickly. Morning tea at Mount Barry Station with such welcoming hosts Jackie & Tony Williams was one of many highlights.

Peter the guide is really informative and drives people in great comfy vehicle Toyota Landcruiser 200 series. It was a rare insight into life on the cattle stations near Lake Eyre and see the vastness of the country out there. You get to stop for lunch at Pink Roadhouse in Oodnadatta and dinner at William Creek Hotel near western edge of Lake Eyre. The tour only has 4 passengers so very personal service.

"Interesting but too long " May 2016.......said you had to remain on the bus while the postie disappeared for 30 minutes. Are you not permitted to leave the bus or did you choose not to leave the bus ? I'd have thought half the adventure would be meeting the station families and having a chat.
Written 16 October 2016
At all the Station stops, we were permitted to get off the bus, but told not to go near the house etc as this was the people's home, the station people kept to themselves, they only talked to the Postman.
It was at the last Station stop, that we stayed on the bus, because it was late and dark, and the Postman went inside the sheds to talk, there was no point getting out of the bus and just walking around the car park.
