A great place to visit with friendly staff and knowing it is a real working mine adds to its interest. Choose from self guided tours or short or long guided tours. Gem sales also available at reasonable prices. Plenty of parking.

An amazing experience to go underground to this working mine. Shafts every way that you turn. We were given an ultra violet torch which then shows up the opal seams in the rock. Due to our arrival time we did the self guided tour.

My family had a great time at Tom's mine. First they noodled topside and found some beautiful fragments. After that we had the full tour and all came away feeling like we had a real taste of the opal mining of Coober Pedy.

Great service and a lot of new information. We were late for the last tour, so we went for a self-guided tour and we still liked it a lot.

An interesting experience to discover life in a mine.We had a chance to try some machinery but felt a little bit unsafe. Also our guide was a bit addicted and side tracked.
