A great place to visit to learn about the early mining days of the town and the Gough family. Lovely people who were very happy to help.

We did a self guided tour, which is both affordable and very informative. Lots of reading as well as visuals. Was fantastic to see how the old miner use to live and mine for opals. I do wish it had a section on how opals...More

Well worth a visit. The old timers was interesting and gave an insight into mining years ago. OK priced. Lovely young lady on the front counter

We went to this mine as a self touring experience and found it engrossing and informative. At $15 per person its reasonably valued. Warning: this underground experience can be a little confronting to claustrophobics. I toughed it out.

A good way to see how the first miners dug to find opal veins. At the end of the visit a friendly man shows you how the miners used trucks to suck rubble up.

Many objects collected to give a good overview of life in Coober Pedy. Great experience for a very low cost. Gives you an understanding of life 'gouging' for Opal, not everyone's cup tea and very hard work!

Spent a few hours here learning about CP history and the life of a family living underground. Very informative, friendly owner who gave a demonstration of the trucks used to sieve the ground. Worth doing.
