This place gives a complete and realistic view of miners life and their conditions throughout the past century. The tour can be done within an hour if you only want a snapshot but allow at least 2 hours if you really want to know the details.

With this underground mine you get the history of the people, men and women, who worked it, the hardships and the dangers they faced, survived, or didn't. You see the equipment, the opals in the walls, the clothing they wore and the house, dug out next to the mine, with corridors and roof holes, so that the owners could get... More

Was an interesting tour underground. Had a look through the store and timed it perfectly for the blower demonstration.

An in-depth look into the history and present-day mining. We arrived in time for the demonstration which was interesting and a bit of fun. Then we headed off with our booklet and guided ourselves through the mine. I was pleasantly surprised by the display rooms and there was far more information, displays and museum pieces than I expected. Great value... More

Spent an hour or so in this mine tour. Interesting facts and lots to see including an underground house. Hard hats provided to protect your head as there are a few low spots on the walk around under the ground. Easy walk, nothing strenuous.

I wanted to see a little bit of the mining side of town but didn't want to spend a lot of time doing it. The guy running the place was lovely; we were able to have a look around the shop and got a demonstration of how one of the giant machines worked. We could also forage for opal bits... More
