About
The highlight of 'Mad March' in Adelaide is without a doubt the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Starting in mid February, this month-long festival encompasses all things festive and artistic. Quirky music, dance and comedy performances from all over the globe are presented in venues throughout the city and within the outdoor centrepiece, The Garden of Unearthly Delights. With so much going on at one time, with not only Fringe events but also with the Adelaide Festival of Arts, WOMAdelaide, the Adelaide Cup and the Clipsal 500, your only problem will be choosing which events to attend!

- Relax7985381 contributionlaughter is the best medicineSaw Hans disco spektakular , what a show ! Laughed so much I had tears running down my face. Only problem was it was in Gluttony and when we wanted to go and eat in the Garden , they wanted to charge us to get in ! I don't understand the logic behind it allHey there, thanks for the review! As an open access festival, we do not run or operate any venues, and both the Garden and Gluttony are independently operated, hence if you have a ticket for one, you cannot use this as entry for the other. Glad to hear you enjoyed Hans though - he truly is Spektakulär!Written 12 March 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 12 March 2024
- Meander321748872491 contributionGet along to MAD MARCH in AdelaideAlways an amazing experience. If you haven't been you haven't lived. Adelaide CBD is such an ideal city to host this festival because of the abundant parks in which to set up venues, food stalls, promotional support, ticket and box offices, retail and info outlets. All within walking distance if your accommodation is in the city, free tram service with in the city, plenty of parking. Close to other destinations.. Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale wine districts, Adelaide, Monarto Zoos, Cleland Wildlife Park, and for overseas and interstaers Kangaroo Island, Lime Coast and Yorke Peninsular and ti the north Flinders Rangers. And don't forget the other festivals happening at the same time in March ...Writers and Adelaide Arts Festivals, as well as WOMAD.Thanks so much for your review! - luisita92016Adelaide, Australia3 contributionsDon't miss Adelaide FringeI visited the Adelaide Fringe this March. Such a fantastic time to visit Adelaide and such an incredible variety of shows to see. I saw such an incredible variety of shows: Reuben Kaye's Apocalypstik (stunning), Wankernomics (hilarious) The LadyBeatles (local women's group Beatles cover show, brilliant). Also saw a few shows from the UK: The Gods, The Gods, The Gods, An Evening Without Kate Bush, England & Son and Afghanistan is Not Funny. The Writers Festival is also on at the same time, I visited this too... just brilliant -- and free. The vibe in the town is great, and it was great value for money.Wow! It sounds like you saw a bunch of shows! Thanks so much for sharing your experience - we'll be bringing the vibes again from 21 February to 23 March 2025.Written 17 March 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 15 March 2024
- Seaside737512Kiama, Australia2 contributionsTotally Fabulous!!!!!!Attending and supporting the Adelaide Fringe was an absolute joy and privilege. So many talented, gutsy artists, so many shows from which to choose. The cheering and clapping from the audiences, people meandering, chatting, wining and dining, families having entertaining time together -an absolute delight to experience and behold. Thank you to all the artists, creators and sponsors of the Adelaide Fringe. Thanks for your fabulous review! - Jacqueline J2 contributionsAn unforgettable month of outstanding entertainmentAll of the fifteen shows we saw were brilliant. We enjoyed music, dance, acrobats, circus and magic. The Fringe offers an outstanding range of experiences at very reasonable prices. Both Gluttony and the Garden of Unearthly Delights are glorious outdoor venues. They provide an impressive variety of food stalls and the atmosphere in the evenings is idyllic. Even the portable toilets are kept well serviced! I'd particularly recommend these shows: Simply Brill, London Calling, Dom Chambers - Fake Wizard, Afrique en Cirque, Charlie Caper, the 60 Four and, for little ones, Trash Test Dummies and Peter Pan. The standard of entertainment is remarkably high.Thank you for your brilliant review Jacqueline! Love to hear that you got out to heaps of shows and enjoyed the variety of entertainment on offer. Prices are great, especially when you buy the 45.00 membership. All your tix are 2 for price of 1. Plenty of chairs tables benches, bars, food trucks. Great atmosphere, easily accessible with information maps everywhere. It's a MUST DO. I'm a veteran, of the fringe. Thanks for your lovely review! And so great to hear you took advantage of the 2for1 Fringe member tix! We saw the Brill Club - a story of young, famous songwriters in NYC in the 60s. Fantastic music & singers; thoroughly enjoyable. Also did the Silent disco walking tour which was so much fun. My husband, who is not a dancer, really got into it and we had a ball. Thanks Leanne - glad to hear you had a ball! - Helen N1 contributionThe Adelaide Fringe is a wonderful experience.Adelaide absolutely comes alive when the Fringe is on. My husband and I love it! We have been visiting the Fringe for years now. It is great seeing some of the amazing performers and sometimes quirky acts that wouldn't normally be available. There's something for everyone. Just make sure you book a show if you want to get into the Garden of Unearthly Delights as otherwise you will have a long wait getting in. It gets so busy! Gluttony is usually easier to enter but still a great experience. Thanks so much for your wonderful review! Hopefully you can join us again in 2025 to see even more amazing performers and quirky acts at next year's Fringe.Written 26 March 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 25 March 2024

We stumbled across the Fringe on visiting Adelaide for a couple of days prior to going home to Melbourne. We attended 3 shows which were all excellent, although it's a bit frustrating standing in queues in the hot sun for ages waiting for the doors to open. The only negative we would really say is that, as visitors, we had quite a lot of trouble finding where all the action was. An information booth in Rundle Mall would be a great way to provide general info and perhaps create a bit more of a buzz in the centre of town. Once we found our way onto the ticket website, etc, we were fine, but for 'outsiders' and perhaps people who are not particularly tech savvy, it would have been helpful. As stated, though, the shows were awesome, well priced, not too long and the variety of offerings were amazing. We did find it strange that there were hardly any eateries open on Friday afternoon even though there were shows on. We would definitely come back to Adelaide at this time of the year to attend more shows, but probably do some research prior to make sure we get tickets to some of the shows we missed this time. Mind you, we're lucky enough to have the option now of the Melbourne Comedy festival and use the shows we saw here as a litmus test for what's yet to come. And, finally, we should mention the staff. Quirky, fun, enthusiastic and ever so helpful. It was great to see how inclusive they were to patrons with disabilities and the efforts they made to accommodate their needs. Well done Adelaide!

The buzz of the nightlife was fantastic. In saying that it’s disgusting that they charge a ticket to enter, especially when you’re paying the prices for the food and drink.
Also, some one should be looking at the quality of the food as some vendors should not be there makes experience Not pleasant however, events like the piano bar and some of the three events were excellent. Not all of us want to go and see the shows we go for the atmosphere and expect quality food and drink at reasonable prices. If not, we’ll just spend our money in the city down Rundle Street, so please look at this
Another thing I would look at would to have some more free events like fire flyers dances ect just to improve the excitement when you walk in

Thanks for sharing your experience! As an non-curated, open access festival, Adelaide Fringe does not operate any of the venues that participate in the festival, so we'd love to know which venue you attended, so we can pass on your feedback!

We happened to be in Adelaide for the Fringe Festival. There are all kinds of shows during the festival, including music, magic, food etc. The city was so lively as a result (and busy as it was also Arts Festival and Writers Week) when we were there. We went to 3 events - a magic show (soso), an outdoor exhibit, Natural Wonders (very cool) and a Kaleidoscope, a maze (gave me a headache with the gonging music). Many of the available shows were quirky (but I thought this was interesting).

The Adelaide Fringe isn't just an arts festival; it's the heartbeat that makes the city pulse with life and vibrancy. As performances unfold, Adelaide transforms, with every corner echoing laughter, music, and applause. Streets brim with energy, from lively street performances to bustling food stalls. The Fringe doesn't just showcase talent; it awakens Adelaide, making it a radiant hub of culture and celebration. Truly, a must-experience event!

Our sixth year coming to The Adelaide Fringe festival. So much going on, atmosphere fantastic, everyone so friendly & helpful.
We are in our early 70's & come from Blue Mountains & stay in the CBD so we can walk to most of the venues.
I did miss the booking office in Rundle Mall as they often were helpful in finding a show you may like.
We were in Adelaide for 24 days & saw over 30 shows, sometimes 2 a night.
10/10 Adelaide

I had a superb time attending your festival. It was so energising to see the city that was once my home teeming with multitudes of festive faces, all suffused with happiness and the space a concerto of friendly sound. Magic moments were more numerous than roos on the Onkaparinga! Paul Foot was an artist if not in his, or Jean Brodie's, prime one at the very peak of his abilities . He gave a performance that was beyond superb and consistently laugh out loud. Thanks for the memories and the icecream.

The Garden & Gluttony are such amazing "destinations" but it's well worth giving other venues a try. Loved finding new arts spots around town & I'm constantly amazed by how good a show the Adelaide Fringe Team manages to put on. This year's Fringe is one of the best I've attended over the years. I'm still finding new & innovative shows to buy tix for. My UK visitors just loved the fpur shows I took them too while they were here, a highlight of their trip.
Thank you Fringe Team, artists & enthusiastic amateurs!!

The Adelaide Fringe is a huge positive for our city. I love to see comedy, dance and Acrobatic shows. The outdoor atmosphere is brilliant and Adelaide comes alive in February -March. There is so much going on at The Fringe and restaurants and Pubs are buzzing with atmosphere. I strongly recommend everyone to go see a show or two and six and relax eating great food under the stars.

Hi, would love to enjoy fringe festival atmosphere. Visiting Adelaide and will have dog. So actual shows are out. Can anyone advise what area we can walk around, perhaps enjoy street performances and eat street food or sit outside for a meal. Could I possibly have street names or locales to head (do not really know Adelaida at all ). Secondly any ideas where to park? Happy to park up to 2 to 3 kilometers away from area to get in a walk? Thinking of going on Thursday 20/2 and realize some road closures? What time of day best atmosphere? Thank you in advance.

We were really angry at the Adelaide City Council - on Saturday night Car park being closed we drove everywhere trying to get a car park - you need to tell them that it’s not good enough
Written 17 March 2019
Thank you yes I realise what you're saying but I was angry that the council carparks were closed, we drove around aimlessly, about 800 carparks were unavailable due to civil works being carried out during the busiest time in Adelaide. I actually wanted the council to see this review, but as usual its fallen on deaf ears but for one straggler from Canberra!
Thank you for replying

what is there for my grown kids and I to enjoy there in the 2nd week of March?
Written 25 January 2016
There are plenty of shows to see. Grab a guide, see what you would like. Some are coming to an end. But still loads to see.
Depends on how open you are to things. Most of the comedians do swear, and some of the shows have over 18 content but The Fringe guide should say if the show is over 18.
