- Simon BCity of Greater Geelong, Australia4,157 contributionsBetter than MelbourneHow does the VIC ALP government waste so much money on Myki system when just across the border the SA transport simply allows credit card tap on boarding without nonsense necessary in buying extra transport card?! Anyway, compliments to SA Metro bus. Easy, clean & reliable. Used from airport into CBD and back. Terrific.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 April 2024
- Paul BChirnside Park, Australia1,122 contributionsFree travel is so usefulUsed the free trams on a number of occasions as well as the free bus getting back to the city from the zoo. Used the See-me app and it worked well for the bus. Need to understand the bus stop codes as they are confusing.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 3 April 2024

Not the easiest timetable to use but local people were very helpful so managed fine. We mainly walked but was great to know bus was available if wanted.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 April 2024
- V WGreater Adelaide, Australia333 contributionsAn excellent free service. The free tram service around the city is excellent. During the day, the trams are quite frequent. Saturday night is less frequent (we waited around half an hour). Make sure to check where the tram is going, as it has different routes.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 June 2024
- Alison SSydney, Australia2,505 contributionsIntroduction to Adelaide. We waited for a while at a Central City stop. Very pleased 😀 when bus arrived. Mainly school students returning home, for a while, then others alighted. Journey to the North of Adelaide was fascinating. I just love seeing the wonderful architecture and lace work on the buildings. Wonderful trip.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 July 2024

My partner and I live in rural S.A. and visit Adelaide for the purposes of specialist medical services. Most are accessible to us by car however we had to go to Flinders Hospital where the parking fees are exorbitant to say the least so we chose to go to a public transport hub and catch a bus. I had been on the Adelaide Metro website to plan our trip to find out what is required for the journey. There was absolutely no mention whatsoever that only metro card would be accepted as a for of payment for the bus. The driver was extremely rude, we boarded anyway as we had an appointment to keep. We witnessed the driver being rude to an elderly couple as well. If this is the quality of service provided by public transport in Adelaide, it only gives me more reasons to NOT visit Adelaide unless there is an unavoidable reason. Just one more reason to hate cities.

After I took a train from Adelaide to Seaford, I realised it is not going to stop at Adelaide show ground. I talked to the train driver via emergency infraction point. I told her I'd late to my job if I get off at woodland and catch the next train. She declined on the first instance and apologised. Then she was on the speakers like " the passenger who wanted to get off at Adelaide show ground be prepared I got special permission to stop " then the other passenger clapped out. That was my best experience.

Adelaide has got its city public transport right. The free trams within the city environs are a delight to use, even if they can get very crowded sometimes. And then there is the free bus service. One around the city and one out through North Adelaide - and in both directions. It all makes getting around very easy indeed. Well done Adelaide!

We did the extended loop through North Adelaide and the City before hopping off. We’d driven through these areas to destinations for years without enjoying the sit back sightseeing experience of Adelaide Oval, the University Footbridge over the Torrens, Lefevre Terrace, charming North Adelaide villas, Chinatown and the city streets. Our driver was friendly and time tables and maps are on the Adelaide Metro website.

Visited on Thursday 27th February and Friday 28th February. We used this service a few times to get around the city which was great and free to use. We did the two loops which gave us a good look at the city, much easier than walking or driving around yourself.

Horrible customer service!! Rang to resolve a card problem as i was given incorrect information. Service person was impatient and short and ended up hanging up on me! Wow - so i called their "complaints" officer who was WORSE! I ended up in tears trying to get it resolved! Their website is just so confusing, which is why i ended up calling them. The complaints officer was condescending and dismissive and quite smug as i was clearly shaken and upset with how i was being treated.Disgusting. And then I tried to submit a complaint online..and yep, that wouldn't work either!! Would not submit...Unbelievable. Wish i didnt need the card - would've cancelled immediately otherwise. I work in a Uni so not a moron, but the website is rubbish as far as being user friendly goes imo. And their staff on the phones? Even a delegated complaints person (who should know how to talk to ppl who are upset you would think) - rubbish. Disgusting behaviour. They need a good dose of customer service training. And fix your rubbish website.

The tram is a great way to get around the city for free and very easy to navigate. Hop on and they will make an announcement for each of the stops as well as advising you when you need a valid paid ticket. Pick up a map at your hotel, Visitor Center or on-line to view the route.

A great & free way to get around the city. We were limited on time, but the loop of the city & North Adelaide only took 1hr. We saw some great architecture & parts of the city we wouldn’t have seen tiger wise. Would definitely recommend.

Having a free bus that goes around the city is a fantastic benefit to Adelaide and to tourists. However, I found myself getting frustrated that I wasn't able to figure out where they stop and when. The map was not at all helpful and the times were inconsistent. The few times that I did manage to catch it were purely a fluke.

The 98 and 98A buses cover a fair distance- i took the free route right around to see where it took me... could get off close to Botanical Gardens/Zoo, also close enough to Rundle Mall, and close to State Library/Museum.
Services run every quarter to half an hour and obviously, some drivers are better and more helpful than others.
I got on in Currie Street close to King William Rd. Verty easy to access and use. The tourist info centre on Piwie St had timetables. Look for bus 98/ 98A.

Hello, We are coming to Adelaide in March by Celebrity Cruise and wondered if there is a stop for this bus near the port? Many thanks.
Written 16 January 2019
The free City Connector and Tram services only operate within the central business district. The Cruise Terminal is near to the Outer Harbor train line, from here trains operate every 30 minutes to the City. The timetable can be viewed here on the Adelaide Metro website

Hello Does anyone know if the Melbourne City circle tram is wheelchair accessible please? Thank you
Written 15 September 2018
Sorry, I know that the Adelaide trams are wheelchair accessible, but I haven't been on the Melbourne tram for several years. However, I'm sure that our sensitive Aussie cousins will have made provision for this need.
