The National War Memorial commemorates those who served in World War I. The interior lists the 5,000 young South Australians who made the ultimate sacrifice. I can still remember how impressed I was when I first saw it, many years ago. Why it is called the National War memorial is a mystery, though it might have something to do with the fact that the SA parliament was the first state legislature to provide funds for a War Memorial. It is now over a century since the end of the Great War, but some families sttill grieve for their dead.

Visited on Friday 28th February. What a great memorial to those who gave their lives in World War 1 and 2. Well worth stopping to have a look and see if you have your family name listed there.

This memorial won’t take long to see, but worth it if you are passing by. A very fitting tribute to honour all the soldiers that lost their lives during the war.
