This lookout is not at the top of the hill but you still get a reasonably good view over Tanunda, Bethany and the surrounding area and there is a very good carpark. There is also a location pointer. We visited in late May when there was a lot of autumn colours on the vines which added to the spectacle. There is a small stone sculpture park on the slope of the hill in front of the lookout.

Near the top of Mengler Hill is a car park with panoramic views across the Barossa region. It is a clear view, but there are few features to discern! There is the usual pointer giving distances to various places, but perhaps the most interesting feature here (not counting the nearby sculpture park) is the memorial to the Barossa Pioneers. I particularly noted the little phrase ‘pious pioneers’, and wandered what they were really like! In retrospect, considering the very large number of Lutheran churches they built, perhaps they were!
