Can highly recommend this trip on the mighty Murray River. I thought I'd be bored, but not at all. Great on shore excursions learning about the history of the river and paddle steamers. Staff were amazing, nothing was a problem. Food was fantastic, buffet brekkies, 2 course lunches or ploughman's lunch, 3 course dinners. Alcohol at very reasonable prices with happy hour daily 20% off 5-6pm, wine/beer specials every lunch time with 20% off. Cabins a bit small but you don't spend much time in them. Great hot water showers. And of course, the spectacular scenery as you cruise along this enormous river.

A lovely day out. Very peaceful.
Trip down the Murray on a paddle steamer was really good, Shame it couldn't be just a bit longer.
Food on the boat was 1st class. Super tasty.
After the cruise we got free time in the town of Mannum but it was probably too long, very quiet town with not alpt to see (museum closed due to flooding earlier this year)
On the way back we stopped at Melbas chocolate factory and there was a cheese place next door but it was closing.
Our driver, Michael, was fantastic. We felt very safe, and he was full of local information.
I would highly recommend this day trip.

This tour is actually two half day tours combined with about an hour's break for lunch. In the morning, we visited the sights of Adelaide, including stops at the National Wine Centre, St. Peter's Cathedral, and Light's Vision. In the afternoon, we went to the Mt. Lofty summit and then spent a few hours in Hahndorf. Tea and apfel strudel or beer tasting at the Hahndorf Inn was included. That was delicious. We could wander along the streets of Hahndorf and soak in the German atmosphere. I would recommend this tour to those who are either visiting for the first time or need a refresher of the main sights.

Great experience. Would be nice to stop at a couple of the small towns on the way to Hahndorf.
Also would be good to have a little more time so not rushing at Hahndorf.

We wished we had hired a car and driven ourselves. We were astonished and dismayed that the tour guide/driver made no acknowledgement of the first nation people at any time during the tour. To listen to the commentary, the " history " of Adelaide started with the arrival of European and English explorers. Be aware also that you do not need to be on time for your tour as they ask, they will keep those passengers who arrive on time ( like us ), waiting for more than 15 minutes.

Roger gave us a very interesting commentary as we drowe through the countryside to Barossa. Disappointed with the wines at Jacobs Creek. Hard to understand the Asian person telling us about Jacobs Creek. Tour of susrrounding vines was a walk outside the centre to a few rows of vines. Nice lunch at the 2nd winery. - only 2 places for wine tasting. Trip to Hahndorf village for an hour. Not enough time for this place. Lots of interesting shops and buildings. Enjoyed our McLaren Vale wine tasting tour much more. than the Barossa one.

Roger our driver gave a lot of information as we drove to Mannon and then onto the Proud Mary. Given morning tea and virtually straight into lunch. It was a nice meal but portions were't very big. Had a chance to see birds on the river. Didn't go far really as only a 2 hr trip while the longer cruise people were ashore at Mannon. It was a very cold wind. We had time to walk around Mannon but found anything interesting was closed. It was quite dead really.
Area had suffered from the earlier floods. Stopped at Chocolate and Cheese factories . No demonstrations or tastings - just buying . An interesting drive through the countryside but not an exciting day.

It was about the worst tour I have ever been on, 1 hour of tour, 1 stop for a photo shoot and the rest was made up of, returning the bus as ours was not working. Then did the same tour again (passing the same church 4 times) then did drop offs.

A really great day! Our driver Athol was very knowledgeable, friendly and funny.
We visited 2 wineries and had terrific wine tastings, with a great lunch at 1 of them, plus a visit to the Penfolds cellar door for optional tasting, and finally a chocolate and wine matching experience.
This was wrapped in travel through the beautiful Barossa Valley, with great scenery and many historic points of interest.
Well worth the price!

Hello Roger,
Given the early departure of this tour (6:45am), we would recommend that you find your way to the Adelaide Central Bus Station. It's about 30 minutes by public buses from Plympton or about 15-20 minutes if you take a taxi.
Unfortunately, we don't have the option to pick up from Plympton, however we do pick up from Bus Stop 24 on Marion Road in Mitchell Park. This stop is about 10-15 minutes in a taxi from Plympton.

We certainly do pick ups from the Stamford Grand at Glenelg. The coach would arrive at 8:05am - be sure to be waiting at least 10 minutes prior in case the coach is early. The concierge team the Grand will be able to help you when you're on the ground.
