Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The St Peters Billabong is a wetland in inner suburban Adelaide, whch has been restored to its natural state prior to European settlement.

The pond area of the billabong is a remarkable 1.4 hectares. Native plants flourish in ther area.

While it offers an example of well preserved (and restored) natural environment, it's easily accessible from the River Torrens Linear Park.

It's an interesting and tranquil place to visit while you're enjoying a stroll along the Linear Park.

This is a very pleasant recreational area with an oval adjacent to the linear park and a billabong. It is kept generally in good condition and has plenty of shady trees. However your experience will be spoiled by irresponsible dog owners who have little or no control of their dogs. As a result packs of dogs run around where ever they like. Too bad if you're having a picnic, that pack of dogs might run straight through your food. Similarly a game of cricket you might be enjoying with family and friends will be interrupted by uninvited dogs who have decided your game ball is something they'd like to play with. Watch out for dogs running over to your little ones and jumping all over them. Then take care of where you walk as the piles of uncollected dog faeces increase as the evening wears on. The owners of these offending dogs have minimal control of their pets and have only the slightest idea that their dog's behaviour is annoying and offensive. These pooches are pampered and well kept and their owners are delighted that the sign says it is an off leash area, but they don't bother reading the rest of the admittedly confusing text which indicates that 'off leash' doesn't mean do as you please. This is not the fault of the dogs it is the owners who are to blame for a lovely park being ruined.

although this is called St Peters billabong, it is only a part of St Peters River Park, a wide open very adventurous park
the billabong itself at this time of year (January) is very dry and shallow, not a good sight at all
but visiting the whole park, which consists of a large green oval with cricket pitch, long bike and walking paths, and large BBQ areas
always birdlife (ducks, geese and swans) to be seen, lots of places to explore and have fun

The Billabong has been revitalised and replanted and it provides a sanctuary, of sorts, for birdlife. Take your field glasses. It is a pleasant and peaceful place to walk and sit - close to an extensive riverside walk, a BBQ area and an oval for the children to play.

We have been staying at Levi Caravan park over Christmas and it has been an excellent central place to access everything that Adelaide has to offer. The staff are friendly and helpful. The cabins and grounds are well looked after.
Definitely worth staying at if you have 4 or more people and are staying in Adelaide.

The billabong is a nice place to visit whilst out walking, noticed a few cranes there last week. Can get a little 'stinky' towards the end of summer until fresh rains flush it out. A great improvement to the Linear Park walk/area.

Great for bird watchers we saw many species from sparrows up to big black swans. Wonderful on a sunny day as there are plenty of trees for shade.

The Billabong has both the water side area with birdlife, and a huge green oval open space bordered by large trees, the billabong and the River Torrens with ducks. A fave place for kids and a ball, family games, people walking their dogs, and overlooking the oval there are public toilets and a shaded BBQ area. The linear park cycle track goes through on the river side and not far away there is also an adventure playground. You feel like you are in the country, while you are just minutes from easy parking on one of two or three street entrances nearby. We usually access the area from the end of St Peters St, St Peters. Free and great for kids and walks.
