Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On our mini break to Adelaide we were lucky enough to go on two of Trail Hopper's winery tour buses. We were to Adelaide Hills/Hahndorf and McLaren Vale.
The bus service timetable is very easy to follow and structured well.
The tour guides we had - Teresa on our Adelaide Hills tour and Nathan for McLaren Vale were very knowledgeable and helpful in assisting you to choose the best day for you. In fact, Nathan's extensive knowledge of the McLaren Vale area and its wineries made it very difficult to narrow down to only 4 choices!
These bus tours are structured so well that you could go on the same tour several times and visit different wineries. They are also very reasonably priced and pick up/drop off in the city is in a convenient location easily accessed by public transport.
We were able to visit 4 wineries and have our lunch within a 1 hour stop. This may not be possible on busier days. We made bookings for tastings on our Adelaide Hills trip, but within McLaren Vale we didn't need them.

What a great adventure travelling through the beautiful Barossa Valley visiting Wineries and have someone else driving. Nathan was our informative driver/navigator/travel director and knowledgable on all things wine and the Barossa. Because Trail Hoppers is a hop-on hop-off tour, we were able to choose the wineries most appealed to us and our tastes. We were given clear details and timetable which allowed us plenty of time (generally 1 hour in each) for samples, laughs and a nice picnic in between. And for the time spent in the Barossa we had 4 generous visits in each of the wineries we chose. Nathan was punctual for pickup and drop off, and a very safe driver. Would highly recommend Trail Hopper for anyone wishing to visit the Barossa in a comfortable bus, with a highly knowledgeable and skilled driver.

Our day in the Barossa with Trailhopper Tours was perfect. We were collected on time in Tanunda in a very comfortable minibus. Our driver Nathan was entertaining and knowledgable and made sure we were able to take full advantage of each of the wineries we visited. The day was sublimely relaxing and enjoyable and we were able to try such a wide variety of Barossa wines. The bus ran like clockwork making the drop-off and collection from each winery a breeze.

We highly recommend Trailhopper Tours if you are travelling to the Barossa with a small number of people as they take all the stress out of organising your own tour and they remove the need for a designated driver. We look forward to going on another Trailhopper Tour in another region soon!

What an idea! Hop On Hop Off winery tours, with knowledgeable, friendly guides. The small buses are perfect for travel and lend themselves to a more intimate vineyard experience. Meeting other wine enthusiasts is fun too. You choose which wineries you want to explore, how long you’d like to stay, and the bus loops back to pick you up and take you to the next one on your list. Good price and a great day of tasting without the worry of driving. Love this concept! Pick-ups are prompt and yet the day itself is very flexible. If you don’t like set itineraries this is the company for you!

Would highly recommend Trail Hopper for those looking to do a tour without breaking the bank. The staff were professional, friendly and very easy to deal with, from the moment we booked through to the execution of the tours. We did tours of both Barossa and Mclaren Vale which were both hosted by Nathan who’s suggestions and knowledge allowed us to make informed decisions on where to visit. We booked through Cherie who’s communication was excellent and was very quick to respond to all queries we had. Overall it was a great experience and would definitely book through trail hopper on our next visit.

I have been on the tour with my parents (38, 64,65 yo) and we all loved it. Great way to go around wineries, without worrying about driving and alcohol levels. The driver was lovely, he helped us to pick our wineries, he was super helpful and really nice to chat with. We have stopped at d'Arenberg (must see for me, great architecture and Salvador Dali exhibition), Mollydooker, Chapel Hill and Red Pole. We were supposed to stop at Hugh Hamilton as last stop, but after 3 wineries we needed a coffee!!! Chapel Hill was by far the best spot, we did the special shiraz testing, and it was AMAZING. Great wines, some food offered, nice and quiet environment. We did'nt enjoy much Mollydooker , we had a platter that costed us 60$! they charge the tasting 10$ and did not give it back after buying a bottle ....lovely views though. Red Pole was a nice relaxing environment to close the day, we had a coffee and dessert - not really good, but was calm and nice. Enjoy the tour, it's excelletn!

Great value for money tours- All guides were great but special mention to guide Nathan who did the McLaren Vale winery tour. I was totally new and didn't do my homework on picking wineries and my goal was mainly sight seeing the beautiful winery views rather than wine tasting. He catered accordingly making sure that I was able to see more than 4 wineries by spending just enough time to enjoy the views. He drove back to me after dropping others to ensure I was taken to another additional winery. Bronnie and Kyle were also very friendly.

This was such a great way to explore the beautiful Barossa Valley! Nathan, our guide was very friendly, considerate, punctual and funny... which made the trip a whole lot of fun. The hop-on / hop-off timetable was perfect and gave ample time for exploring at each stop. The wineries were all fantastic with Lambert Estate being my personal favourite as the service for the tasting was just outstanding! I'd highly recommend this tour as it's so flexible and you can tailor it to your liking!

Booked as a couple for Hanhdorf and Adelaide Hills and had fun. The guide was flexible and our preferred itinerary was discussed prior to the day to ensure everything was sorted and we wouldn't miss each pickup.
The tour allowed us to go at our own pace, within limits, and we didn't have to just tag along with a set agenda. The wineries were all accommodating to our times and we enjoyed a fresh produce platter for lunch at Artwine. The view at HHW set a peaceful tone and could have easily passed more time there after having the ChocoVino tasting but we wanted to experience as much as possible. We finished the day off with Nepenthe Wines and back to Hanhdorf Hill town centre for afternoon tea.
Fun day and didn't feel rushed.

My friend and I had an absolutely amazing day with Trail Hopper for a wine tour in the Barossa Valley. The set up of the day was perfect for us as the hop on/hop off meant you could pick out the particular wineries you wanted to visit from an extensive list. Our tour guide Laurence was very knowledgable about all of the wineries we could visit and had some good suggestions on which to visit for particular tastes/experiences. Being with Trail Hopper meant we got discounts on the wine tastings (didn't pay for one all day) and select discounts on certain wines/food as well. Overall was a beautiful day and would recommend this company for a good wine tour to anyone.
