Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Popped in after dinner elsewhere to hear a musician we knew about. It is a bit hard to find unless you know what you're looking for. Look for Beware of the Dog marked on the footpath and if the light is on, they're open. A lovely, dark, moody little gem of a place. No menus or drinks lists and an overwhelming selection of bottles behind the bar but I asked for a recommendation and based on what I said I liked the barman poured me a drink which was perfect. We listened to the blues for a bit and moved on to the next place.

We stumbled across this bar quite by accident following a brief conversation with a stranger in the street the first night we visited Adelaide. Although she gave us clear directions, we walked past it and had to go back. There is no signage telling you it is a bar except a note in the window declaring that "if the light was on, they were open". Fortunately for us the light was on and we walked into a very cozy and intimate space. Although the bar didn't stock our beer of choice, the owner, Zac was very friendly and helpful and recommended another brand which we drank throughout our stay in Adelaide. This bar specialises in whiskey and has a comprehensive range of rare and lesser known brands. Cocktails are also a favourite and the preparation of them is a delight to watch. If you are lucky enough to find this place, I recommend you call in. We entered as two thirsty customers and left with a vow to return as soon as possible.

Popped into this hidden gem on Friday night (after a bit of searching for the elusive entrance ) and was surprised at the amount of people who were already tucked away around the bar and seating booths, and the atmosphere and buzz felt really good. The lone musician playing the guitar and singing the blues was brilliant and set the mood of this New York Style, dimly lit whiskey bar. The choice of whiskey and spirits was overwhelming but welcoming ! The only downer was there was only 2 barmen serving a big and thirsty crowd, which made trying to order a round drinks very slow. That said. . .I highly recommend Baddog, and we will be coming back next time for another visit when we're in the CBD again !

Bad dog is exactly where it says it is, but it's somehow still hard to find the first time you go there. Inside it's dimly lit, warm and cozy. Great live music on fridays. I like to have a bottle of red in a booth but there's lots of craft beers, cocktails and spirits. Great bar and staff. Always a good chilled out crowd. They don't seem to have food there but i've read that they don't mind you ordering take away.

‘Secret’ bar that we were recommended by Jack and Jill’s staff. A fab atmosphere and a very colourful, welcoming barman to chat to. It was a bit quiet but we were there at 8pm. Won’t forget the 50% moonshine drink for a while!

This bar has a very non-descript front entrance. If the light is on they are open. It's quite dark inside which works well with the black and white paintings of jazz artists. There is an old piano in the corner and the booths are seperated from by industrial style mesh. You won't find a cocktail list or prices here but the bartender is on top of his game! I had a whiskey sour and my wife had s margarita. Priced at about $18 each. Oh and the toilets are something to behold! Worth a visit.

Down the lane blink and you'd miss it...look for the wooden door with the light above & below the "beware of the dog " on the footpath....a little bit of blues comes to Adelaide...
