Daydream Island’s amazing Living Reef is a must see on the island. Located at the entrance to the resort, it is one of the world’s largest man-made living coral reef lagoons and features more than 80 species of marine fish and 50 species of coral. This microcosm of the Great Barrier Reef continues to capture the imagination of tourists young and old; with guests having the opportunity to hand feed resident stingrays, sharks and barramundi.

Highly recommend anyone to join in the stingray feeding, they are literally at your feet and they hover around waiting for the next fish to be dropped! They are so big but so gentle and so smooth! Amazing!

Would recommend you join in the free live reef feeding show of a morning. Its informative and interesting. The living reef wraps around the building and with several walkways you'll be constantly stopping to look at what's happening in the water.

The living reef is amazing with a huge array of fish life, corals, sharks and rays. The marine biologists have some excellent information and you can attend free fish feeding sessions which is a treat seeing the rays and sharks up close. I've never seen anything like this before, really worth a visit. Our young kids especially enjoyed it.

The facilities are very nicely placed on the little island. The room was large and well furnished. A highlight the 2 aquariums with big fish of the reef (sharks, rays, coral fish etc.). Nice sport facilities: Mini golf, snorkeling, canoeing, cat surfing etc.: all for free.

Pay to pet the Sting-rays. It's worth it! Through the tour desk you can buy a fairly inexpensive short living reef experience and get in the water with the sting-rays. We loved it.

This living reef extends through a large part of the complex. Its not very deep so that everyone can see the exhibits. I am not a fan of keeping anything captive, although the experts said that the sharks and the rays only know of what they are living in i believe that if a shark or a ray roams free... More
