This visit we tried for two days to drive here but stopped by fallen trees (thanks to tail end of Cyclone Debbie) so eventually walked in from Central Station and had it all to ourselves. Water levels very low at the moment and have seen it look a lot better, but still enjoyed.

This lake is crystal clear but looks green from a distance. Great for the kids! It was quite windy the day we went, so maybe bring extra pegs for your shade tent. The Lake is a short walk along a track from the car park area. No food permitted on the beach, for dingo safety. The road track to get... More

The lake might be as pure as lake McKenzie but is not crowded at all. It is no so easily accessible by car (a short 5 minute walk from the parking lot). The water quality is superb! Through the tea tree leaves which fall down, the water leaves you hair very smooth.

Less crowded than other freshwater lakes on Fraser Island. Perfect for sunbathing on the beach of very fine, almost silvery, sands.

Is the best option if lake Mckenzie is packed with tourists. This lake is very similar but I would say that a bit less impressive. Still an amazing and breathtaking attraction. The advantage is that is less popular and more quiet.

Amazing! Can set up right on the lake's edge and relax with a cool drink while the kids swim and run up and down the sand dunes.

Like a couple of the lakes in Fraser, it's not a bad sight and good for a stop over. I would have travelled especially for this lake, but as we were driving past we stopped and had a look.

This is a magic place. Try and go either before or after the tour buses have been (before 10 or after 3) and have the place to yourself.

Everybody goes to Lake McKenzie, so we chose Lake Birrabeen, and had it all to ourselves. Absoutely great water and beach, and just as pretty as Lake McKenzie. A little more remote, but who cares- you had to travel these sandy roads to get anywhere.
