The island was fantastic, with beautiful scenery, excellent wildlife and a rugged ride on sandy 4wd tracks. Our guide Wayne was extremely hard working, was an exceptional 4 wheel driver and a pround and knowledgeable fan of Fraser Island. Nothing was too much trouble and his experience showed in his flexible approach to ensure the itinerary was organised in a flexible with perfect timing and time spent at each if the featured locations. It was magic, and even though it was rough and ready in an old troopie, it was hilarious fun bumping along the tracks. Wayne always went the extra mile to please and served up plenty of camp food. I recommend bringing your own snacks but Wayne stopped each day so people could top up with their own preferred snacks and treats. He also provided lunch at his own expense one day so we could spend more time at one of the remote beach locations. Wayne was an absolute gem that made it very memorable despite the campsite that appears to need some repairs and maintenance after lack of attention after covid and the fires. This trip is an adventure and not for those who prefer comfort and to be distanced from nature. We saw dingoes each day, wedge failed eagles and tawny frog mouths. The natural beauty was outstanding. Thank you for memories that will last a lifetime.

We loved our tour on Fraser Island. Our tour guide Milo (Miles) made us all feel very welcome on the tour and we never felt rushed. We saw some beautiful parts of the island - our favourites were Lake McKensie, the champagne pool and the views from Indian Head where we even spotted some dolphins! Milo was great answering all our questions and giving us plenty of facts about the island and it's incredible environment from desert to rainforest to fresh water lakes. We booked a 3 day/2 night tour staying in Kingfisher resort, but got a call the day before with the great news we got upgraded to Eurong resort as no-one was staying in the Kingfisher, with free breakfast and dinner. Thanks again Milo for a great tour :)

I did the 2 day/1 night tour of Fraser island in a 4WD that held 7 people (6 guests + 1 guide). We were taken to excellent sites, most notably the Muheno shipwreck, Lake Wabby, and the spectacular Lake Mackenzie. Along the way we saw dingos, spiders, jellyfish and other assorted critters.
Guide Mark was from the local area, very knowedgeable about the animals and plants, as well as very friendly and approachable. He also made sure my dietary requirements were catered for (vegan, there was a vegetarian in the group as well), and also took us to the best spots before other tours arrived: We were the only ones swimming in Lake Mackenzie, superb!
The tour itself was also very convenient as it started with a pickup from Brisbane. This saved me and some of the other guests having to make the journey to Rainbow Beach or Noosa, which actually saved me a day of my trip!

Called today at around 3pm (Saturday) in regards to booking a 3 day tour for 4x people. On the website it does not say Monday-friday only gives a number saying call now.
So I gave them a call to ask a couple of questions as i'm not sure if I should book a guided tour or for us to just rent a 4x4 and do it alone.
Well I've never been spoken to so abruptly and rudely ever! I was enquiring if there's any availability coming up? As with covid things still aren't running the same. I was met with a harsh comment of 'everythings empty' very helpful. I also enquired about the price as I know some companies have had to change prices again due to Covid to be met with 'our prices are our prices they haven't changed in four year' I then asked if it would be possible to send me some photos of the camping accomodation as I cannot see any online. I was told 'im ending this here if you want more information call on monday' and hung up on me!
Well thanks for all your help and guidance, you must not need the business at the moment. I booked with another company that sent me over extra information last night after closing hours last night. Sad sad sad experience when booking a trip of a lifetime

Thank You for posting.
Firstly, please accept my apology.

Unfortunately after our experience with our tour I cannot give this company a good review. Despite raising my issues with at least 2 of the tour guides and providing comprehensive feedback at the end of the tour, I have not had any contact from the company to address my complaints. Essentially my kids and I were part of the first tour after the bushfire and extreme weather. Our tour guide told us upon meeting us that we were the 'experiment group' as Sunrover had not sent any staff to the island or campsite to check it for damage before sending new tour groups. Also in the lead up to our tour I received no communication from the company to prepare us for our visit apart from that which I sought regarding the status of our tour in light of the fires. Thankfully the island was still beautiful but the campsite was not. My kids and I are regular campers and not precious but when we were told to try to find a tent that was not filled with water, I was not happy. A lot of the tents were old anyway and had broken zips etc so finding one that was habitable was a challenge. All that was provided for bedding were old communal sleeping bags taken from a plastic tub stored at the campsite (goodness knows how often they are laundered) and old mattresses. We managed to find tents with canvas covered mattresses thankfully as the fabric covered mattresses looked disgusting and unhygienic. My 13 yo daughter found a dustpan and brush and cleaned our tents out so that we could use them, Our tour guide then told us that two more groups were arriving the following day and it was his job to fix the campsite for them. Noting he was our tour guide I didn't think that was appropriate and raised my concerns that perhaps Sunrover should have sent out a small team to do that. Lucky for the next 2 groups our guide spent the following afternoon cleaning out all the tents so that when they arrived they had clean dry tents. By this point the entirety of our tour had sought cabins for our final night. (Big thank-you to the Dilli Village caretakers for accommodating us). On our second night there were three tour groups in total. All the tour guides were aware that I was unhappy with what we were greeted with but there were no apologies and I was made to feel that I had to 'suck it up' as we were the first group after the storm. The other two groups seemed to be having a great time but they were only there for one night. In hindsight one night would have been enough. Whilst we did enjoy the beauty of FI, I would not recommend this tour company unless you are after the backpacker, budget experience.

Louisa.
Your tour was the first available after the bushfires and the first day of Fraser island re-opening to the public.
The night before your tour to Fraser the island was hit with a severe storm and heavy rain.
Yes, we did not have time to visit camp before your arrival due to the 2 week island closure - however upon arrival our guide did some maintenance work to allow his group of five tents to sleep in. The following day we had more guides arrive and they too assisted with the restoration of camp.
Our guides did the absolute best of their ability to ensure their guests enjoyed their stay and were treated to some of the most beautiful destinations in the country. The feedback on both your tour and the following tours that weekend was almost universally positive.
Our sleeping bags and sheets are brought back & laundered after every tour. The box you saw were the unused bags provided for your group.
Our campsite at Dilli is privately owned, fully dingo fenced, generator powered with fridge and freezer for guests. We also offer hot showers and flushing toilets.
Sorry you let the unfortunate (and temporary) event with the campsite taint your experience with us.

Our tour guide Milo, on top of being entertaining, was an experienced and capable 4-wheel driver. At the time of our visit a tropical cyclone was forming offshore which lead to very high tides and some challenging driving on the beach. On the last day we had to take a long inland track and also drive on the beach with the waves very close to the car, but Milo knew what he was doing and got us back to the ferry safely after a long day of driving. However, it then turned out that the bridge on the way back to Brisbane was shut because of the flooding. Milo was able to drive us on the beach from Rainbow Beach to Noosa and then on to Brisbane, making us some of the few people who were able to make that journey on that day. Top effort from him!

Highly recommend Sunrover for Social Group Adventures,
Organized a 3 Day Camping 4WD Tour with Sunrover for my social group of 28 people. The crew from Sunrover look after us from start to finish with the transportation and accommodation, they had great knowledge of the Island and accommodated everybody's dietary requirements to detail.
After driving us around to all the places of interest each day, they cook us a great feast, held a card magic show, and even guided us down to the beach for night stargazing.
Their campsite at Dilli Village Campsite was clean, tidy and convenient, everyone enjoyed their two nights stay at this campsite, good shower facilities as well with running hot water and flushing toilets. The Tea Tree Lake near the campsite was an additional bonus.
It was great to see that Lake McKenzie, Lake Wobby, and Eli Creek were not affected by the 2020 bushfires.
Thanks Sunrover for looking after us, we all have a great time :)

We booked the 2 day tour which was unfortunately overbooked. They offered us an upgrade to the 3 day tour with a room upgrade to the resort in Eurong, afterwards we were really glad to do the 3 days. We were a small group of 6 people. Milo showed us a lot of different places and we had plenty of time, he always knew when the spots were empty. He often let us decide how long we wanted to spend time on different activities and what activities to do in what order. Although there were really tough weather conditions at the beach and in the inland he always knew how to drive and we felt very secure in the car. All in all it was a fantastic tour with a very experienced and funny guide who made the trip even better.

Rhett and Jim were our guides for a 2 day trip to Fraser island.
Overall we loved Fraser island but were disappointed in Sunrover tours for the reasons below:
1. The "small group" was in fact 17 people crammed into two old vehicles; one of which was very uncomfortable.
2. Our guides thought everyone was on a 3 day tour and the 6 of us who had booked onto the 2 day tour were made to feel like we had caused an inconvenience. They tweaked the itinerary and the result was probably a less than optimal experience for everyone.
3. The food was very poor. There was no lunch at Rainbow beach on day 1 as advertised and no explanation. When we arrived at camp there were some basic pre-made bread rolls. On day 2 we had breakfast at 7am and no further meal was offered. We got back to Rainbow beach at around 4pm because a vehicle broke down and required a tow. There was no recognition of how hungry people were. The description of the food provided is misleading. "fuit" = apples on day 1; "buffet" supper = cheapest sausages and burgers. There were no marshmallows as advertised.
4. Information from guides on Fraser island itself was ad hoc. Those in the back of the vehicle could not hear it.
Overall this felt like a real budget trip but without the price tag to match and the company website is misleading. All those who took part on our trip were OK but the vehicles used were not suitable at all for anyone with any kind of physical limitations - massive step up into vehicle and extreme discomfort - this should be made clear on their website.
The cabins we slept in were clean and comfortable and Rhett's enthusiasm for stargazing was appreciated. We realise that the breakdown of the vehicle was a problem to our guides on top of the mix up over who was on what tour and were grateful that they were able to get us off the island, but we honestly felt like we were a massive inconvenience.

Had a fantastic experience with my group and our tour guide (Mark) on the Sunrover 2 day tour of Fraser Island. Lake McKenzie was a sight to behold and a dream to jump into. Mark was always on hand to point out and identify different animals and plants on our travels around the island, most notably; the Azure Kingfisher (was either the Azure or Sacred, but have now deduced it was an Azure due to the orange/brown belly) in the rainforest which was incredible to see; the solo Dingo roaming the beach; and the wild kangaroos on our journey. We also visited Eli Creek, Lake Wabby and the Shipwreck. Mark told us to wake up early on the second day and walk down to the beach to catch the sunrise, which was fantastic advise.
In all honesty, this trip wouldn’t have been anywhere near as good if we didn’t have Mark taking us on this adventure. Even when there was a mix up with catering for a vegetarian, Mark was the saviour and bought additional food to resolve the problem.
Con: The tents and sleeping bags aren’t amazing, but this isn’t an experience revolving around sleep... so be it.
I’d like to say thanks again to Mark for the fantastic 2 days, and for making this a surreal experience.

Sunover has a lot of very good comments. However, it appears that you have a very worn-out Toyota 4WD. What manufacturing year is your oldest 4WD. You seem to have a very impolite staff during at around Sept /Nov 2019. Have he left your compnay?

Thanks for asking a question.
All our vehicles meet Qld safety standards. If they didn't, we wouldn't be in business!!
We have been operating tours to Fraser & Moreton Islands for over 30 years now - so we must be doing something right.
Our fleet consists of Toyota Landcruiser 4WD vehicles. All are regularly inspected by Qld Transport and mechanically maintained.

Would you recommend the 3 day or the 5 day camping tour of Fraser Island, departing from Noosa? We prefer a slower pace and nature based activities.

3 not 5. I think after 3 days you've seen plenty of all the places plus you can't just wander out of the camps due to dingo's. They're all "gated" communities so unless you have your own 4x4 you have to be with a guide
