We fished with Eddie over 4 consecutive days. Eddie made a point to find out what we wanted to target and did his best to get us onto the fish. Our first day out saw less than ideal conditions but we pushed on to the place where Eddie said big queenfish were and he was spot on. We scored many fish over the 1 mtr mark with spectacular pursuits of our fast retrieved poppers. These fish were amazing and our arms were well and truly aching when it was time to head for home. Our second day saw choppy confused waters within the bay and too windy to head offshore. We were keen to catch a coral trout and on my first drop on the spot that Eddie said would have coral trout - I caught one. As the wind increased the fishing shut down but Eddie took us all the way around Magnetic Island trying to find both protection and fish. It was a hard day and not many fish saw the boat despite covering lots of miles and trying everything to get them to bite. Day 3 saw more unfavorable conditions but we braved the queenfish spot again and from the moment we arrived hooked up to some meter plus fish again stretching our arms until conditions reached a stage where it became quite uncomfortable and we had to retreat to calmer waters. Next fish on the wishlist was a barramundi so we headed to one of Eddie's best barra spots and peppered the snags, rock bars and flats with our lures trying to catch the elusive barramundi. Again the fishing had shut down and all of the normal baitfish which attract the barra were absent. We persevered and eventually i managed a hook up to my first barra which wound end up being the only one for the day. After some quick photos the fish was released. Our final say was marred by fairly strong winds. Eddie had planned to catch live bait and take us to catch fingermarks but the waters were just to choppy to go where we wanted so we resorted to plan b. Like previous days the fishing was still shut down with very little sign of bait or birds working them. Eddie worked hard to secure the live baits then we headed to sheltered waters to target barra in the creeks. Within minutes our our first livies being deployed the first rod buckled over and we were on to a nice finger mark ticking another first for us. We continued to catch more solid fingermarks throughout the morning on baits meant for big barra but the barra didn't show up as planned. The surprise catch was a juvenile cobia - Eddie had never encountered one in this system in his 30 years of fishing. We had a great four days with Eddie. He is a very knowledgeable and likable character with a good bank of bad dad jokes to keep you entertained. His gear is all good quality and reasonably maintained and he has a good variety of lures on hand. I would highly recommend him.

I asked eddie if we could find a coral trout, he says I know just the spot. First drop a coral trout! We caught 15 species of quality QLD fish on our charter and a few sharks. My daughter (8yrs old) was thouroughly entertained by eddies jokes and tales. Well worth the money and I would recommend booking the boat for sure!

Eddie makes sure his customers get the best experience. He will change where he goes to suit the local conditions, where the fish are biting and to suit what the customer wants to get out of the day. Guarantee fish will be caught and he will try to ensure a variety of fish if conditions permit. It was very choppy on the day so we didn't move to different spots therefore caught only large queenfish but there were so many we ended up throwing most of them back. Still took a lot home though. Be prepared to clean and fillet your catch when you get home though as guides aren't allowed to do it for you here (as opposed to some places overseas where this is standard practice). Will recommend Eddie to anyone who asks. Have used another fishing charter previously and caught nothing and they did nothing to enhance the experience. Even if you caught nothing the day would be fun and informative with Eddie

This is a review from a 3 day guided fishing tour myself and 2 mates did a couple of years ago. I have travelled all around this country and fished with lots of guides. I have to say Eddie riddle is an absolute champion guide. Conditions were not ideal over our trip but Eddie made sure it was one to remember. He has extensive knowledge of the fishing grounds, the gear was top quality and well maintained. Plenty of options and nothing was too much trouble for Eddie to put us on the fish. Several queenies over 1 m, GTs, Spanish macks, finger mark, long tail tuna, thread fin salmon and the list goes on. I could not recommend Eddie enough for anyone travelling to North QLD to catch some quality fish. An awesome bloke and a great guide and happy to share his knowledge.

Eddie is the perfect host, whilst the fishing was tough going due to the "cold snap" North QLD was experiencing, Eddie made sure we enjoyed the trip with his friendly nature and good humour! Saw some great sights, large turtles, whales breaching, and learnt a few tips on fishing as well! Thanks Eddie, will look you up we we head back to Townsville!
