About
Capture a great overview of Townsville with a visit to Mount Stuart. Providing views overlooking the entire city and across to Magnetic Island and Cleveland Bay, Mount Stuart is a great way for visitors to get their bearings before further exploring Townsville North Queensland. Walk, run, ride or drive to the top of the 9km road, but if you plan to tackle it by foot ensure you have a good level of fitness and plenty of water as it is a steep climb in areas. Once you reach the top of Mount Stuart, enjoy the breezes, relax with a picnic, take in the views or further explore the short bush walks around the area.

Great mountain drive. Not many people do the drive so it is very enjoyable. The road is quite narrrow and windy and maybe scary if there are lots of drivers using it. The views of Townsville and the dam are well worth the trip

Fantastic views of the whole of Townsville, easy drive up and short walk from the carpark, wheelchair accessible as wide path to lookout

We discovered the lookout on the drive between Townsville and Charters Towers. It was a great spot and the walk around the rim is recommended, but don't make our mistake and make sure you are wearing sturdy shoes!

Its quite a long drive off the highway and up the range to get to this peak, but worth the views.
I arrived to brush fires spoiling the main view, but the circuit walk around the telecom tower had rewarding views to the west as well
Reasonable amount of parking on site, worth the detour if you have the time

OK if you want to see the overall picture of Townsville but would recommend Castle Hill first. A far drive out of Townsville as well.

Easy to access by car and worth it for the spectacular views across Townsville. Mt Stuart also has walk and ride trails. Small sitting area at the top and butterfly breeding areas seen from top lookout.

Great place to get an overall view of Townsville on a beautiful clear day. You can see out to Magnetic island and all over the city - well worth the drive out..

Breathtaking views over Townsville, you can see the sheer size and layout. Including Castle Hill and Magnetic Island, the highlight for me was seeing the tiny Rock Wallabies.

This is the highest place to view Townsville and see the entire city. View Magnetic island in the distance as well as the University and Army Barracks at the base of the hill
