I booked with this company solely because they said they were the only ones who did the flight over the gold coast, but unfortunately we didn't get to do that on our flight day & i was sorely dissapointed about this, but you can't do anything about the weather, they said it was too windy over the coast so we just flew over the hinterland, which was okay but slightly boring to be honest. Wasn't worth getting up so early for this experience unfortunately, the breakfast was good at the Mercure Resort.

We had to have 2 attempts at this as the first day the wind wasn't right and we couldn't fly. Luckily we were able to book on the next day (or full refund offered). It's a very early start (we had a 3am hotel pick up!) but well worth it once you do go. We booked the hours trip, saw a gorgeous sunset over Surfers but you travel inland and see lots of gorgeous countryside too (and get a feel for local life). It's very smooth taking off and landing not too bad either. So peaceful and a real must do if you can. I'd recommend the champagne breakfast too which is served afterwards at the local 5 star Mercure hotel.
I would have rated this excellent were it not for the disappointment of not flying the first day (and 2 mega early starts when we only had 2 nights total stay in the area)

This was The Best Experience of a Lifetime!! Murray our Pilot is made for this, he made our trip Absolutely Fantastic!! Bill our Pick up man, was happy to answer any question we had..Johnno The Task Master lol was great!! The breakfast was a great way to finish such an adventure!! Yes I have told everybody, This is a must do!! and I will be doing it again and again..I can mark this off my Bucket List!!

Quite dissapointed. I had initially schedualed this experience, was told to arrive at 4am, and called to say i was running 10minutes late (after driving 2 and a half hours), to only be informed that they 'couldnt wait because that would mean everyone else would miss the sunrise and it woukdnt be fair to them'. So i drove the long way back home and rescehdualed. A few weeks later i arrived at 3:30am, waited for everyone else to arrive, was then told that we still had to drive 45minutes to point if departure. Then was told that we would be detouring as someone had 'slept in' so we were meeting them somewhere, which was not the departure point. This is despite the fact that every email they send, says in capitals: 'do not be late, we do not wait, you can not rebook or reschedual'. After driving in circles due to poor communication and wasting at least 30mins, we finally picked up 2 people and started our 45minute drive. The sun had already started to rise by this point, and when i discussed it with staff, they informed me that 'were not allowed to lift off until the sun is up'. I found this very strange considering they advertise sunrise flight. I was extremely upset because once we had finally arrived, we still had to set up the balloons. And there was no safety talk at all. The flight itself was fine but since we missed the sunrise there wasnt really much need for it to last a full hour. We were then told we had to help to pack up the balloons. After the long trip back to the hotel i was tired and not in the mood to sit through breakfast, especially since i had another long drive back home. I am quite upset that ive paid such a large amount of money for such a dissapointing experience. I wont be recommending this to anyone.

Quite expensive, AUD 500 for 2 person for 30 minutes flight with champagne breakfast in mercure hotel. Pick up at 5.00 am. Beautiful Gold Coast sunrise scenery.once a life time experience. Take off and landing are interesting

an amazing experience! My and my friends had a great time and really enjoyed the flight. the customer service wasgreat. everyone was really friendly and entertaining. I felt very safe and even some of my friends who were a little concerned before could relax.

I wish to comment on the excellent customer service I received during my hot air balloon experience with Balloon Down Under (Balloon Aloft) on 27 November 2014! My friends and I really enjoyed the flight. We wish to thank the team (Jonathan, Billy and Chris) that really guided and looked after us!

1. Jonathan (Johnny) who went an extra mile to ensure our safety and lend a helping hand to capture the precious moments during our flight! Thanks for making our hot air balloon flight a memorable one! Cheers!
2. Chris (the pilot) who shared many interesting facts and information about hot air balloon and Australia! He was friendly and he prioritized our safety! We felt safe and relaxed as we enjoyed the view from the top!

This was REALLY good! I wouldn't (and haven't!) hesitated to recommend this.
Initial thought was that it was a bit expensive but when you see what goes into each trip I understand why and think it was actually good value for money. The crew (both the 'pilot' and the ground staff) were great and added to the experience. (Very professional even when dealing with the unexpected drunken spectator aka Stevie that turned up to watch the balloon landing experience! An unusual twist all taken into the stride of the crew). STUNNING sunrise views - Wonderful experience and would quite happily do this again! Thanks guys :-)

Thanks for joining us for a wonderful Gold Coast flight. The pilots were happy to report this unexpected arrival who came to watch the landing in his cheery state, to us in the office when they returned. An added bonus to an exciting morning, we believe :)

What a beautiful way to catch sunrise and an amazing view of the Gold Coast. Awesome crew that make you feel comfortable and are happy to have a laugh! Loved the experience. Followed by a yummy champagne breakfast at the Mercure. Very happy :)

It’s been a lifelong dream to fly in a balloon, and to visit Australia, so imagine my delight when I arrived in Australia and found I could fly off over the Gold Coast in a balloon. And I did it with Balloon Down Under. What an adventure!
Riding in a balloon is the most extraordinary feeling. You’re floating, hanging really, and you’re a little afraid, but there is this peace all around, and just the sound of the wind and the fire pumping hot air into the balloon above you. There is nothing else like it.
Murray took us up, me and the missus, and what a great guy he is. He made us feel safe in our excitement and made the air adventure more enjoyable by pointing out some of the best attractions moving so far below us. Oh, that ocean was so clear and beautiful and beaches were gorgeous too. Then Murray took us over the Gold Coast Hinterland, and we were in awe. Birds flew up and next to us. What a thrill! I felt like I was seeing the best of Australia like few had seen it.
We landed with our hearts beating rapidly our minds full of memories that we’ll share with our friends over and over until they have to come down here and do what did.
