This isn't a major museum but is worth visiting for the interesting displays, especially on the only female hanged in Queensland.

It's only small and run by volunteers who are really passionate about the building's history. I enjoyed the short video and having a look through it. Definitely worth giving 30 minutes to have a look through, especially given it is at the end of Macrossan Street so you don't have to go out of your way to visit.

A nice old house where the court house used to be in Port Douglas
Right next to a picnic park and not to far a way from the old lighthouse, it’s a great way to see the old Port Douglas

The lighthouse lamp is an amazing item - worth going just of it - but also many other items and photos add to the visit

This little museum was a great little visit. The story of the most infamous case really caught my attention. Poor thing was hanged. But there's so much history. Its a really nice walk since its close to the park and St. Mary's. Definitely give it a visit.

The court house provides a history of the hanging of the only female to be hanged in the state of Queensland. The story is depicted through a video and information boards in the court house. There is a volunteer on hand to answer any questions.
Out the back there was more information on the Low Isles and the life of lighthouse keepers who were stationed there. There was also a small display on locals who had served in world War one. Hours of operating are limited, so check beforehand.

Well kept records of one and only hanging of a female in Queensland - lots of history surrounding the event and good video to assist with presentation. Was not what we thought as a history place of Port Douglas but the sole subject of the museum was worth the small entry fee to view. Well kept building

Did you know that this is Queensland 2nd oldest court house that is still standing? I’m glad that there are volunteers in Port Douglas who are keen to preserve this bit of their history and share their knowledge with visitors. We spent about an hour here listening and talking to the guide and reading and looking the various things on display. It closes early afternoon.

The court house is worth looking at while visiting Port Douglas however it is quite small and would only occupy most people for about 15 minutes.
