Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a lovely little timber church sitting in front of the water. It was a very hot day but there was a nice breeze coming from the water side. Originally built in 1880 there was a service going on so only had a quick look inside, it was a Sunday. Easy to find on the foreshore, nearby there was a big market

We always love taking visitors to Port Douglas to St Mary's. Whether it is on the weekends for the market, or during the week when it is quieter and can take more pics. A lovely piece of Port Douglas.

St Mary's by the Sea was a Roman Catholic church built in 1914 but in 1981 it was in poor condition and was given to the community. The community restored and it was located next to the bay it is now a heritage-listed non-denominational church at Wharf Street, It is on the Queensland Heritage Register

This is a beautiful old church. Well restored, worth the stop. Wonderful view from the main window of the church. Reminds me a of church in Maui

The chapel is beautiful. From the outside, with its modest weatherboard construction and tropical-garden setting it looks as though it could be on a South Pacific island. Inside, it is just as charming with its minimalist decoration, all-white walls, plain wooden pews and beyond the altar a large window looking across the water.
It's a real in-your-face antidote to all the over-the-top commercialisation that is present-day Port Douglas.

A sweet little chapel located near The Courthouse Hotel end of town and by the water. Look inside to appreciate the lovely stained glass windows and the most amazing view of the water through the window at the front of chapel, it's picture-perfect.

We went inside the church and were able to see all of the care to preserve this venue. We were able to see that weddings are still held in the church

It's a quaint little wooden church, there is a wide window behind the altar that gives a nice view of the sea. It would be excellent for a wedding, but as a tourist there is not really much to see, it takes a few minutes and is not worth going to much effort to go and see it.
