Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I inquired about becoming a qualified diver whilst working in Port Douglas for a short time. Gary was brilliant and flexible with my tight work schedule. Very knowledgeable and gave me heaps of confidence. Made me enjoy my whole experience so much that I immediately went for my advanced course. Even caught up with him for another dive on the Sunshine Coast. Best experience and takes great photos also! Highly Recommended!

Gary is by far the most knowledgeable scuba diving guide in the region. He somehow has an ability to always find things other guides miss or never seem to find. I was lucky to experience a full 50 minute dive with a mating pair of cuttlefish and witness their laying eggs in the coral reef.

Other groups on the dive swam by and didn't even notice, but with Gary's expert guidance we were able to patiently and unobtrusively witness these wonderful creatures in their natural environment up close.

He knows the history and area as uniquely having lived there for a very long time. Other guides have come and gone, but Gary has been a constant in the area always working to improve skills and seek to share the marine life the Great Barrier Reef has to offer. When I seek to go diving in the area I always hope Gary is available as I'm sure to be treated to the best life and sights on the dive.

Gary is both a great tour guide and instructor. Gary has a way of finding the most intersting marine life and capturing it on camera for you. I would recommend Gary to kids who want to learn to dive - he has a great way of enthusing kids and teaching them technical skill and diving safely.

We wanted to dive on the Great Barrier Reef in our holiday. We were recommended to go to Port Douglas, so we drove there in our camper .
On the internet we find out a nice website from a diving guide, really well recommanded on Tripadvisor. Unfortunately he didn’t had time, but recommendad his friend Gary Rinquet .We talked to Gary by phone and he gave us a lot of advise about diving around and opportunities we could do. The day before our diving trip he visited us to talk about our level and experiences and take our sizes for the suits and stuff.

This was very fine. The next day we walked to the boat that Garry has contact was a good organization . He put our gear ready and told what else is all going to happen .
Because there are only four people in the boat went diving (the other went snorkeling ) If we are with Gary first and the other two with their guide also followed .

Underwater you saw that he was an experienced diver and he let us see everything . ( even the guide of the boat followed us ) . In one word AWESOME . He also had a video camera and with him and made the most beautiful photos .
I also felt very comfortable with him .
At the end of the day he wanted the pictures of his laptop on a USB stick but we had unfortunately not with us , and he arranged for one of them anyway so we could take the pictures.
He also has a link on his site to put the pictures so that the family could enjoy.

Are you in Port Douglas and want a good-diving-trip call Gary Rinquet .

Gary thanks !!!

I recently undertook my PADI Open Water course with Gary and it was such a great experience. He was patient, knowledgable and very helpful in explaining all the theory and it was very reassuring having him around while diving. He made the whole course lots of fun and I would highly recommend him to anybody thinking of getting certified. Thank you, Gary for showing me the underwater world!

As a Padi Instructor I needed to enrol in a NITROX coarse to become a NTX Instructor. Gary was the go to man. I called Gary up and told him of my situation and he was straight onto it.
Gary was able to come down from Port Douglas to my then work place in Townsville to do the dives on the YONGALA.
Gary with all his years and knowledge diving, was able to give me a fun and exciting dive and coarse. He is very knowledgeable Instructor and I would highly recommend his services.
You may pay a little for his services, however you will be glad you did in the end. Well worth the money, cheers Gary...

Gary is a great dive instructor; He is extremely patient, explains concepts thoroughly in an easy to understand manner and makes you feel safe while diving. I am grateful that I got my Open Water certification with Gary. He also has well kept new equipment in various sizes and knows the Great Barrier Reef and its surroundings better then most dive instructors. I highly recommend him for both personal and group dives.

I did an advanced open water course with Port Douglas Dive a couple of years back and from start to finish, it was thoroughly enjoyable.

I initially emailed a number of dive centres in Port Douglas and Gary from Port Douglas Dive made my choice very simple. He communicated well with me and provided everything I would need to complete my course as I would be visiting from the other side of the globe.

Everything went without a hitch. The boat, the facilities on board and the dive gear were second to none and the level of service from Gary and the crew on board made my diving fun and hassle free. Gary was able to teach me all the essentials in a manner that showed in he had many years experience in teaching and in dealing with divers of all skill levels. The variety of dives and the magnificent Barrier Reef were the icing on the cake.

Having seen some of the other dive boats and tours departing from Port Douglas with people shoved on like cattle only confirmed I had made the right choice. I cannot recommend Gary highly enough and the fact that we remain in touch to this day speaks volumes and should I be lucky enough to get back to Australia anu time soon, Port Douglas Dive will be top of my list to return to.

Gary Ringuet took Very good care of our family on dive trips in Port Douglas. On Every one of our many trips he made sure that we were safe and protected. I enjoyed and marveled at the sights down under, and left the logistics with Gary, the professional. Going Diving is spending lots of time waiting for the next dive. You want a Gary with you not just for his knowledge and skill, but also for his great stories and his ability to talk with anyone on any subject. I have recommended Gary Ringuet to friends of mine looking for a dive on the Great Barrier Reef. I strongly recommend him to you!
